I did it with custom parsing[0] and treated the numbers as 16 bit integers, the representation in the file is not a constant number of bytes which complicates the table approach. If you end up computing a hash I think it might be slower tha

My blog works like many of those described in others comments, it's: - Jekyll(any static site generator would do, I'd probably pick Zola or Hugo if I was starting from scratch. See list[0]) - GitHub to host source code - GitHub ac

I work on str0m along my colleagues at Lookback. We use it it to build something akin to a SFU(Selective Forward Unit) i.e. a services that forwards media between many clients in a conference setting. There are other people using it for the

I largely agree, but this seems quite unfair to Linux. > But damn, if Linux had been built with safety in mind security would be a lot simpler. Being able to trust the kernel would be so nice. For its time, it was built with safety in mi

Yeah I know some devices already support this, the point of forcing it via legislation would be for those that don't. I think this is also the answer to "the app store question". It feels unfair to force Apple to change a cor

Apple, in my opinion, does a very good job of supporting old devices. Buying an iPhone and keeping it for 6 years is a great strategy and when amortising the cost of the phone over those 6 years, it's price competitive with Android. I

This is just how push notifications work on iOS and Android. The app requests a push token from the operating system, sends that to its backend and stores it against the user's identity. To send a push a message is sent from the backen

Two things about this: 1. Firefox blocks various analytics and tracking quite aggressively by default. Additionally, users of Firefox are, by and large, privacy minded and will have further mitigations. Any count of Firefox users is likely

My standard is consistent. Apple and Google control their respective OSes. They are not general purpose OSes and there's nothing wrong with locking down the software users can run. Having a store and charging a commission is also fine,

I guess I'm usually in this camp with regards to Apple and I suppose it's strictly okay for Google to do this. However, since these markets are so dominant, I'd like any discounts to be transparent and offered to everyone at

I'm quite bullish on this method of cross-platform i.e. a common shared core leveraging native UI toolkits. Every incarnation of cross-platform on the market today sits somewhere between mediocre and bad in terms of the resulting UX. T

Instead of complicated schemes that attempt to be locale aware, it seems simpler to use a general scheme that will apply regardless. Collect two values: 1. What do you want to be called? e.g. if we send you an email we'll say Hello {na

Your's is an interesting angle that I hadn't thought of. I think the counter to it would be: Brave inadvertently helps Google, by improving Chromium, and it would be better if they inadvertently helped Mozilla, by improving Gecko.
