My understanding is that the main limitation is technical. WASM doens't do GC or the host system calling conventions and cannot interact directly with object from Javascript because of this. However, this is being worked[0] on and will

No, I meant more as in haven’t tried it myself. Plenty of folks have done similar things with C and C++, I’m not sure if anyone has done it with Rust yet. Certainly more difficult than Flutter or RN, but if truly native UI is a goal I think

I think Rust is one of the most promising languages for such a shared layer. Can also be used on the web via WASM. This enables native UI with shared business logic. Kotlin Native is another option that still allows native UI on the iOS sid

With the mouse wheel/trackpad. Flutter Web doesn't actually generate proper DOM, instead it renders things (mostly) from scratch, hence no scroll bars.

Yeah, Kotlin multiplatform is the most promising cross platform solution because it explicit leaves the UI fully native. With Rust you'd leverage C based FFI(with a layer to communicate with Swift and Kotlin), it's not the most st

I first heard this phrase applied to Haskell. Both Haskell and Rust have sophisticated type systems, Haskell more-so than Rust. With a sophisticated type system, you can accurately encode the rules of your domain in the types and thus, when

You have to introduce ordering in your KPIs. If developer experience is more important, then you can get better results with cross platform. If user experience is more important, then you are virtually guaranteed to get better results with

I wrote a comment[0] about this in one of the other threads on this topic, but it bears repeating. Apple started working on a solution to this problem in 2020, called App-Bound Domains[2]. I always expected them to make this mandatory inste

Apple started moving in this direction in 2020 with the introduction of App-Bound Domains[0]. These are currently opt in but I have always expected that, just like with the HTTPs adoption, they'll start enforcing this more strictly. Wi
