Even Apple corp has to buy co2 certificates, the staff need to take flights, and work in non 100% sustainable buildings. What matters though is that Apple is considering the carbon costs of vendors and suppliers. So all thing equal, low car

Won't this rapidly lose reflectively anyway on top of any city building due to soot/dirt? Lowering cost or increasing durability probably matters far more for reflecting sunlight using white paint.

Average users view the garden as a feature, not a bug - and that's the point. Apple removing complexity that their user's do not understand or need is good product design. HN audience is not Apple's main target audience.

VW's main mistake is that their joke was something some people actually really liked. It burns a ton of goodwill. Many of their supporters may have even defended the idea. Now VW effectively told their supporters that VW thinks they ar

Volkswagen would have benefited from reading this article> Bill Gate's comment that the prank makes Microsoft look stupid applies pretty well to the Voltswagen stunt.

Aside from the odd naming change, the main purpose of a move like this is to signal to employees the extent that the organization is making a shift. It may especially be necessary for such a long standing organization such as VW.

This is one of the result of climate crisis. As complex environments get disrupted over time they become less and less diverse allowing for more booms and busts of single species. The wildfires last year probably wiped out a lot of the mice

This assumes that repairable devices on net cause less waste which may not be the case for smartphones. Lighter, waterproof, with no moving parts for battery swapping can lead to much longer lasting devices.

I think Apple is justifiably terrified of a 3rd party battery, installed by someone with 5 minutes of training, causing a fire and making headlines.

I don't want a bulky, heavy, non waterproof, and less reliable smartphone (due to more moveable parts) just to have a easily replaceable battery.

This would be easy to prove if SE are disproportionately represented as CEOs in non software companies. My bet is this is not the case.

Those chips will probably not be out until later this year and will take another couple months to show up in laptops. By then we will see the midrange versions of the M1. In Macbook pros.

Ponzi schemes have a schemer with asymmetric information about the scheme. How is the analogous to bitcoin since there is no asymmetric information (anyone can see the code). You can argue that bitcoin is a pump and dump scheme perhaps but
