Google doesn't have a list of everything you do online unless you're loading resources from their servers after you leave their site. AMP always loads from Google. If you block those 3rd party scripts, AMP pages literally take 8 s

Being forced to load everything you read via Google is worse for privacy. There are already plenty of solutions for blocking 3rd party scripts, like Privacy Badger and umatrix.

AMP isn't truly "open" technology. You can't even discuss its problems on Github without getting the conversation shut down. AMP is an insidious threat the the open WWW itself. It doesn't solve problems that can

Looks interesting. Music theory and harmony would be good topics to approach with computers. I think that there could be books on poetry (analyze meters, language, cross-references, symbolism, poet connections), literature, biology, math, p

"Learn <subject> by Programming in <language>" would be a popular series of books. I hope someone writes them.

I only became aware of it after seeing the edit war on Wikipedia. It may not be the reason for downvotes but it's apparently a controversial topic among some people.

I'm not sure, but it might be the use of the phrase "leaky gut". Some people will have a knee-jerk reaction against that term vs. the term "intestinal permeability".

I don't think Turbolinks is a good idea from a usability standpoint. Too many UIs have a similar bar at the top, and they mean different things: a browser's loading bar, a website's loading bar, a website's read-progress

I'll try to round up some comments later tonight. I have visual-motion sensitivity, and plan to write some articles on some of the problems with recent animation trends. I'm also planning on creating browser extensions that disabl

The new design is pretty awful too. Material Design has accessibility problems for people with motion sensitivity. Everything animates, even if you aren't supposed to be looking at it at the time. Sudden movement can cause nausea, espe

Sometimes is not even about ease of development, but just a following of trends without thinking. SPAs are a bad choice for content-based sites for several reasons. People often ask the wrong question: "which JS framework should I use?

If it makes the Web terrible for desktop users who block 3rd party JS from loading, then it's not an edge case, regardless of the name.

Extremely slow is an understatement. It's literally 8 seconds. Loading 3rd party JavaScript without restriction is extremely unsafe and not an edge case. It's basic Web-browsing safety.

The WWW is supposed to be decentralized. There shouldn't be one (or a few) companies that host the Web. I don't want Google to visit sites on my behalf.

It's a terrible idea. AMP is a shameful attack on the open WWW. AMP is slower than hand-optimized HTML. AMP pages are often hosted on a 3rd party domain, even sending the wrong referrers to other sites. AMP is also extremely slow on de
