Society needs to figure out if that should be illegal. It's the secret manipulation of people's reality to get them to do things that are against the interests of their wallets and health. Very few people would consent to that if

There are interesting reasons why companies expend a lot of resources on free stuff for programmers. If it didn't have a beneficial effect, they wouldn't do it.

Programmers should consider the implications of their actions. Using Facebook's libraries support Facebook. If you don't want to support Facebook, you should prefer alternatives to their libraries whenever possible. - React ->

I think it's unlikely that Facebook added the PATENTS file in order to make things easier for other companies and not for self-interest. It's an explicit patent revocation, not just grant. If I'm not mistaken, there was backl

If they had changed the license when the community asked, that would have been listening to the community, but they didn't. Changing the license because people are leaving the project only shows that FB cares about itself.

I like Google, but they are really losing their way with things like AMP and Material Design (accessibility). People need to speak up or we won't have a truly open WWW much longer.

Does Bing host the pages on their own servers? Hosting your content on their servers could be a motivation for joining. If Google is going to appify your websites on their own servers, then Microsoft doesn't want to be left out. They c

I didn't look closely, but give it a try. I counted about 8 seconds, and there is some CSS in AMP pages that says `8s`, so it's probably the CSS. If I click on an AMP link (usually only via HN), and I get a blank page without any

There are many companies that try to force you to load external resources in an HTML version by putting the content in images. The same thing could happen with AMP, where only an AMP version contains the actual content.

If you block JS from loading from CDNs on AMP pages it literally takes 8 seconds to load the AMP page.

The possibility that email content could change after receiving a message is worrying. Is there going to be a way to reject AMP emails? I won't accept any emails that require loading JavaScript or content from CDNs. If other email pr

Marketing emails use giant images to push the text content below the fold, because they want to entice the user to enable images. Images need to be enabled to track opens.
