I've lived in both those cities this decade; the results are in some cases similar, but the issues are in fact different. The thing that's similar : both cities are warm enough so that you can reasonably live on the streets year

It's always amusing to me to hear people complain about taxes in Seattle. Washington State doesn't have an income tax, y'all. If you haven't figured out that a lot of the weird (and bad) city tax issues arise from that,

I think it's useful to describe the features in terms that make it very clear what's going on. On the other hand, I disagree with the assumption that users should not be willing to make the tradeoff of using the software anyway.

The roots of this are probably in Western PBM gaming back in the 1980s. Flying Buffalo ran several popular computer-moderated wargames in this format, but companies like Schubel & Son ran human moderated games such as Tribes of Crane.

This is absolutely true -- Amazon sets a high bar for customer service when it comes to returns, making things right, etc. And yet there's this problem with fraud! Counterfeit products, Kindle Unlimited scammers, etc. I'm not tota

Also worth noting that the FIRE data and the other source I found aren't measuring the same thing -- one is speaking engagements, one is professors getting fired/not promoted. (Thanks, btw, this is a cordial exchange of views and

There's a thoughtful examination of Haidt's claims here ( https://niskanencenter.org/blog/there-is-no-campus-free-spee... ), which agrees in part and disagrees in part. Worth reading before passing judgement.
