...because they didn't have a killer app that could focus their efforts This is easy to assume but a far more common reason companies go broad is that it makes it much easier to sell big vision and big dreams. Most investors in mag

Stanford should completely retract that study. It has produced far more misleading interpretations than anything useful.

To be fair, shelter at home not appearing impactful earlier on had as much to do with testing capacity ramping up + delayed results. If you’re massively undertesting, even if new infections are decreasing, you’ll likely see growing rate of

I believe California has done an amazing job so far on the whole; “fair” would be a gross understatement. So I think we are in agreement there. That said, I do think as new casualties and hospitalizations are on the decline, test reporting

For everyone who has tracked California’s response over the past month (the good and the bad), the #1 problem is obvious: a) California’s testing and reporting infrastructure is absolutely abysmal, arguably the worst in the country b) the

Yeah the narrative that it will peak in the Bay Area in June makes very little sense to me. Even ppl on the front lines are saying otherwise: https://twitter.com/Bob_Wachter/status/1245536549757841409?s...

I think QC 35s are better than 700s. The 700s are less portable (can’t fold and put it in my jacket) and contrary to how Bose positions it (that they’re more modern), they look more like call center headphones.

“one sick per household and they infect the whole house“ This happened repeatedly in China; in fact, the nature of a lockdown sort of encourages this. But an infected household of 5 ppl is significantly easier to contain than 1 infected per

I’d expect amazon to email you a receipt with an easy way to dispute payments. I realize this is not the same as seeing the aggregate cost at the time of purchase but I’m skeptical this alone will create lots of friction in ppl adopting thi

A typical independent podcast with small-medium viewership really struggles to monetize. It’s great if things in the German podcast scene are different than rest of the world, enabling German podcasts to make more from donations than Spotif

I’ve been thinking that SaaS companies that provide JS code to embed could work around this by letting you attach a subdomain; so instead Of the js pointing to say adroll.com, it would point to ads.adrollcustomer.com (with dns set up to got

But the difference is both of them can be circumvented by competitors If the App Store could be circumvented as easily, Spotify probably wouldn't be raising this issue to begin with.

I think Apple is going to find itself standing alone by the time the dust settles on this issue. Their 30% tax is a disservice to its own customers, not just app publishers. Apple tries to counter that the problem is Spotify . It's S

Underneath the rhetoric, Spotify’s aim is to make more money off others’ work. Wow. It is astonishing to read this from a company being widely accused of an unfair 30% tax. Correction: the revenue share is 15%, it was originally 30%

Lots of SaaS companies have a “sign up with google” button which gives them access to the employee directory assuming your org uses google suite. It’s unfortunate yesteryear’s shit growth hack for consumer apps is reappearing in a worse way

I could not disagree more. It requires 5+ taps and just as many obscure screens to cancel a subscription to an iOS app. If Apple were really serious, they would have an app called Subscriptions.
