As a Stripe user that's one of the things that stood out to me immediately. This will definitely inspire some change on Stripe's part hehe. That's a good thing since it helps Stripe win in the long run.

There are so many things to web development that unless you are already used to building and shipping custom websites and web applications that would be quite a challenge[1]. Anything's possible though. 1. I'm assuming you aren&#x

Yes, super annoying. Fixed width is one thing but fixed width and height (easy way to see that a designer comes from print) is absurd.

viralsweep.com returns a 403 error from certain locations around the web. Very strange stuff.

$4k for a logo to put on a website that looks like that? I hope this thread makes a fantastic case study for others. There are small businesses out there that are generating revenue, making profits, and wouldn't blow that money on a lo

That's mostly ignorance, and as you said a lack of understanding. The people that really understand know that this is the tried and true statement for any invasion of privacy. Wire tapping has been around for quite a while now, and it

Yep it is one of those things that is deeply ingrained. It doesn't save much time but I believe if you don't need to ask for it, then don't. Asking for it only increases the chance of users entering something incorrectly.

Asking for city, state and zip code is my favorite on the list. Plus the country should be asked for first then if US only get the street and zip code. There was a link on HN sometime ago that showed that people trusted the form/page m

1 & 4. It would be nice if there was a great way to make those curses like popups work better but that's just a limitation due to the environment. After all remember vim runs anywhere without needing x or some gui. 5. Maybe you hav

Not to mention all of the revelations over the past few weeks. Either the administration is trying to top Nixon or there is some kind of conspiracy playing out.

I don't support these internships but "There's a sucker born every minute." Edit: I think this might have come off wrong: I was saying that's the mindset of these employers. They put these jobs/internships out there because they know some

This is usually handled by returning the button to its normal state after an error or normal response. With ajax forms you have to catch more errors so if it isn't done it's just because the developer didn't take the time to set it up prope

I think you might be ignoring many of the costs associated with printing and sending a letter. Ink, paper, use of time, etc.? Actually just the savings from having to go to Fedex office this can be worth it. As for bulk operations, that's a

Unless there is some great AI that can handle the landings I think that part can be left to a human. Each situation can be very unique with obstacles such as trees, power lines, other buildings in the way and a human can make better decisio

I could see this being semi-automated to the point where the drones can travel between the home base (there can be special devices to assist the drone with automatically landing that you wouldn't have on a home or business) and some radius

This is never a good move. It's a legitimate issue but I think in the long run the developer will lose more in business.

It would have been nice to see where Rackspace (Cloud Servers) falls when compared with these options. It's a good candidate in this space with a price point in the same ballpark, though different pricing structure.

It does not matter what something is worth today. Five years from now it could be gone. I doubt GeoCities was the first, and it certainly is not the last, to suffer that fate.

My guess is that it was worth it at that time. GeoCities was huuuge. It's where I started and many of the sites I would encounter at the time from search results were hosted on GeoCities. Ah, those were the days.

LOL at adding PHP support to app engine almost 5 years later. PHP gets a lot of bashing but you can't deny its popularity, as evidenced by the number of stars. https://code.google.com/p/googleappengine/issues/detail?id=1...
