Actually I think that would be the best solution..just get rid of taxation of people working, which is an incentive for companies not to hire people (and for people to prefer unemployment with its problems and benefits).

There's one part of home automation that's interesting I think: energy savings. With electric cars, electric batteries and solar panels and smart heating getting cheaper than the gas version, there is a need for all home devices r

Nobody will detect if a not important metadata field/asciiart is created/changed randomly, so this is a practical attack.

If every big corporation would be like Tesla, the world would be different. So yeah, just the fact that somebody loves it doesn't make it bad in itself.

Sure..the thing I don't understand is why she didn't go to a lawyer? That would have been the next logical step for me. At least 1 person should get to prison if there is enough evidence collected by multiple women.

It's too easy to implement, so it can't be regularized. The only thing you get in return is that you'll be able to recognize the faces of police officers as well with the same technology. The world is shrinking, and it will f

Life is something like this, except that with more powerful weapons and means for making global warming over time, less and less bad acts are needed to send everybody to hell. Anyways, I loved reading his books as a child.

Of course not. It was hard for me 25 years ago when all I had as a child was a GWBasic book and a computer and I had to figure out everything myself without any help. Nowdays everything is on the internet in easy to digest form. It was a hu

Build a company that cures cancer, it can make you much richer, than just the low ball $1M/year.

I think it's totally fine if only base salary, guaranteed minimum bonus and maybe liquid stock options are used in the calculations. Most people here who had experience with startups wrote that non-founding employee options should be v

I thought of applying to Tesla as a software engineer, but after reading through Glassdoor reviews, I decided it's not worth to destroy my life, even if it's an amazing company in what it will hopefully achieve (and not so amazing

This is not true... Google Switzerland pays more than in US (actually more, than anywhere else), especially if you take taxation and the pension system into account.

It would be interesting to know how the scaling-up procedure works? Is it similar to scaling up and productionizing a software system? Anyways, I guess the only question is how much time it will take to have mass-scale gene editing on peopl

Of course nobody can be easily promoted if he/she is a single parent, as it takes a lot of time to achieve more than other people (you have to put in more time than the average). All successful people I know work on weekends as well fo

Any book about operating systems should be a good start..you'll learn about drivers, virtual memory, file systems, task switching and a lot of other things and how they work together.

Thanks, I didn't see it..I thought it's interesting because every few days there's a new library ported to Rust shown on HN, which gave the impression to me that it's the fastest growing language.

Why the downvote? Rust is on 41th place on the linked TIOBE index and I would expect it to be growing faster than Dart from the HN articles that were popular last year. Dart was compared to last year on the index, but Rust wasn't, so I

Dynamic block size makes it harder to reason about security of the system, so it's not a conservative choice. Adding another curve for signing won't be hard with segwit, the only question is if there is really enough demand for it

Bitcoin will get all features that Monero has, but security is still the most important aspect, so the maintainers take a very slow, conservative path (which I think is awesome for something so important). Segwit is still a great first step
