This isn’t believable. You don’t fire a CEO and put out a press release accusing them of lying over Dev day. Unless he told them he wasn’t going to announce it and then did.

If this is the actual reason and a bunch of top talent walks away then this might honestly topple Satya. The deal with OpenAI looked like a slam dunk, but may now turn out to be mostly worthless if R&D stalls out.

This is turning into a situation that OpenAI may not be able to recover from. Typically if the CEO and Chair of the board depart under these circumstances there was something illegal happening.

This is certainly a take, but MSFT would probably sue the hell out of them if they tried to do this.

We just don’t know enough yet. Sam could’ve been let go over a disagreement about direction. Or he could’ve been cooking the books. Or he could’ve been concealing the true operating costs. Or subscriber numbers. Some of those things just re

Something big and bad was going on at OpenAI, and if I were MSFT I would be very nervous about the money that you’ve invested in OpenAI right now.

Most of these people presumably have PhDs from top tier universities. So... don't think you'd be able to jump aboard this train without going back to school for a bit.

Don’t worry, I’m sure the usual real estate shills will be by to assure us that were not in a bubble and that prices only go up.

Nope. Loom was last valued at $1.5 billion in 2021, so with this acquisition a lot of people's options undoubtedly got totally wiped out due to liquidation preferences.

Pay more or let them go. That’s it. If the job suddenly requires on call, and someone refuses to comply then show them the door and hire someone else with the explicit expectation that there will be on-call.

There’s some subtext that I think most commentators are missing. NAR and some of the major brokerages have been under intense anti-trust legal pressure this year. By all measures it seems that these lawsuits are working. REMAX just settled

It really seems unnecessary at this point. Now that we have satellite based internet and 4G/5G are legit competitors to regular wire based ISPs it just seems that the market has solved this by itself. Sure, Comcast _could_ still start

Where’s the beef? There’s no data. No evaluation of how well the model does. They’re also going to limit themselves to just the pandemic period (which is probably a very biased time period in the stock market).

I'm only in my mid 30s. I'm _very_ convinced that the world was a better place overall before 2008. Before smartphones, and social media.
