Honest question: Are there things privately you care about? I take pride in parts of my work with the same emotional response as I take pride in my family. Not exactly the same magnitude, but the same emotional pathways at work. After 15 ye

Your choice for the word "blame" is telling? Blame would not be the word I'd use in this case. It's understanding. Understanding that people have traumas. Traumas percolate through the generations. Without elaborating to

No it’s pure logic. One can only write a prenup when going to get married. P(prenup | not marrying) = 0. So if GP is talking about prenup it can only be about marriages. It’s unrelated to falling marriage rates. Then some data [1]. It’s in

Thanks for reading. It’s not even that subtle a distinction. If marriage gets less normal, those who do get married feel stronger about it. It’s value theory 101.

My parent is talking about prenup. That’s only in case of marriage. For those so inclined to get married I do expect marriage before children. With falling marriage rates I expect that effect to be stronger.

Thing is I expect usually when people get married there are no children yet. On top of that, say a decade of marriage, children and changes in the way couples share their respective roles (say one works fulltime and the other parttime) and

If interoperability was marketed as a feature at the moment you bought the product then in my understanding in Europe one could (try to) annul the agreement. Features are an integral part of the buying agreement. That still wouldn't hu

Thanks Ted. In the Netherlands it’s a combination of a few market trends. 1. A trick insurers pulled in the 90s and consumers never forgave us for (lending money in the late 90s for leveraged stock investments with massive cost loading; sti

Netscape disbanded as a company in 2003. Why is TomTom still here? I like the questions at the end of a company since a large market I work in (insurance / life insurance) is dwindling as well. What does that do with companies? How do

TomTom is such an interesting story in technology and finance. Went from zero to $ 10B+ between '05 - '07 [1]. Everyone you knew had one, used one, loved one. Then the sudden boom in mobile phones and mobile internet and the finan

I’d add that reading strategy matters a lot as well. When I read critically I usually do a few passes over the text. Before I start reading I make a list of what to Expect in a text. Then a quick pass to see if what I expect is there, and t
