Recommending Javascript the Good Parts to Javascript beginners is like recommending Effective Java to Java beginners. It is assumed you know some js/java and preferably have written some of it so that the patterns and antipatterns descr

Great talk. Does anyone know how I can get that inline complier Jeremy was using? I don't use Coffeescript just yet but I figured that could be useful when I decide to pick it up.

I tried those posts three times now and they did not work for me. Not even a phone interview. Sure I am a recent grad (this december) who comes from a developing country (visa issues) and I lack open source experience, but my internship was

Yes because it does not make sense to pass it to some commands. For instance, what would `gem list --no-rdoc --local` mean? You will get a lot of invalid option errors.

This will run these options for every gem command though. Better restrict it to install and update.

One small issue dev friends I talk to still face is pricing and the need to convince clients that a move to a ruby or js based tech stack vs Wordpress is worth it. In the country where I live, wordpress is far, far cheaper to host than anyt

Another technologically progressive entity I think is Al Jazeera English, especially their mobile app where you can watch the channel live and their nice integration with Youtube.

I do something similar, but only for historic reasons. Back when I started playing with unix (3 years ago), I was learning cron jobs and I had one output "yo" to me everyday at 651 PM. My system Yo's me ever since.
