Programming in general honestly. Don't write code if you can avoid it, which loosely translates to "Don't solve problems that don't need solving".

I've responded fairly well to SSRIs, but I think it might be significantly influenced by how bad I had gotten without them. The side-effects I endure are objectively terrible (I hit almost all of the common ones and most of the uncomm

Location is one of the core factors of this article. I'm 3 years into my career and still make less than half the starting rate at BigCorp in SV.

When I developed in PHP, I could never understand why they didn't just reach a compromise that made everyone happy. Like uS_state_nameToAbbreviation() and uSStateAbbr_to_name() I call it camel_Snake.

Anyone who got that message from the film is completely oblivious to its point. A similar movie with a more extreme premise would be American Psycho. No one aspired to kill prostitutes after seeing that film, I have no idea why Wolf of Wa

This post almost entirely reinforces the article. The lefts tendency to treat "undereducated" people like they are children is in no way helpful. > blinkered bourgeois liberals who are also big fans of Austrian economics This

I'd still always take NodeJS over Ruby when I'm stuck on Windows though. Ruby on Windows is a dumpster fire...

It's kinda funny actually. I remember the oft quoted maxim regarding very mature static languages: "It's never the compilers fault". This was obviously a hyperbole, but it held true most of the time. These days, the d

Exactly. You can appreciate aspects of a person and the work they do without deifying them in their entirety. Linus Torvalds and weev (being an extreme example) fall into this category.

This comment is depressingly cynical. This is probably the single best definition of "hacking", as the community often refers to it, that I've seen in a very long time. One guy starts working on something only the biggest c

Not OP but my girlfriend and I are long distance and the 6.0.1 update for Android is causing serious strain on our relationship. I keep sending her taco emojis but all she sees are little boxes with x's in them. If Samsung doesn'

For me, it's bloat. VS is slow as molasses and has a thousand features I don't need nor want. I also miss the multiselect feature from Sublime.

The vapor isn't what you should be worried about. It's called "Cloud Chasing" and most of the hardcore of them have to build their own hardware to get to these insane levels. And sometimes they screw up. This leads to

Elm looks absolutely fascinating to me, but one of the things that strikes me is odd is the prevalence examples that eschew markup for the canvas. Not a bad thing per se, but definitely a departure from what most JS Frameworks and tool set
