Good point. This gets us into the territory of not just "explainable" models, but also the ability to feed into those models "states" in a deterministic way. This is a merger of statistical and symbolic methods in my min

(Former AI researcher / founder here) It always surprises me at the ease at which people jump on a) imminent AGI and b) human extinction in the face of AGI. Would love for someone to correct me / add information here to the contra

23 years ago in middle school I made my first ever linux user group post [1] trying to shift from an nvidia geforce to the onboard cyrix mediagx drivers because they had closed source drivers. It’s been a long time coming lol. [1] https:&#

Brian Balfour wrote about this a few years ago and I find that framing quite useful too (having led both innovation orgs within large mature companies as well as startups). Highly recommend a read. He talks about market - model - channel -

the reason gmail allows users to reply to google docs comments inline vs outlook/apple mail dont is that google owns the identity cookie and the api key and the front end. if there was a way to do so, outlook would do it too. but googl

how does mastodon get distribution? a series of decentralised sites lacking distribution and discovery have no incentives for users to join at scale?

I write on https://www.viksit.com - went from a static website built on dreamweaver as a kid to drupal to a static website built with Gatsby :)) The latest iteration was an exercise in minimalism and typography!

Given all the emacs ninjas here - what’s the best way to do JSX/TSX formatting while playing nice with js2-mode, tide and web-mode? I’ve been stuck for months on finding a good config and almost wanted to move to VS Code to try it out.

All solutions to problems generally start off as toys or proofs of concepts. and they improve over time. See: The Wright Brothers.

Agree. I’ve actually seen an interesting shift in such arguments. People will talk about decentralization being a good thing — but rather than talk about web3 from the economic lens of decentralization the arguments always flow to crypto sc

curious - “can your blockchain be validated with regular hardware” - why is this a point you call out? is it that specialized equipment is not easily accessible and thus not truly decentralized?

This comment is truly on point and very meta — it takes a nuanced twitter thread and distills it down via the force of an authoritative source in a way that people immediately get the point.

Great point. I think having this data encrypted on a public system for anyone to verify will lead to much more openness in the ratings system. It has the potential to be a far cry than the black hole the US system is today. I don’t pretend

This is a great point. Some ways I'm seeing this addressed are in the form of, - Credit ratings from the real world being moved on chain, both by startups and by established companies (see Fitch report from Oct 21, pay-to-access only).

Actually, I prefer to write a twitter thread first and then blog it. My 2c on this, - Yes the ux sucks but people are used to reading threads. - There are tools like thread reader app that unroll threads and store for future reference. - to

Curious to hear your perspective on this thought experiment. From TFA, the analogy seems to be a developer publishing an api key for a read/write access to a bank account (say, Plaid). If someone was to use this key to withdraw money f
