Corporations can simultaneously be shitty, soul crushing places to work and also be the enabler of creativity outside the work place due to creating such a rich society. I don't think there is a contradiction here.

This is my experience as well. I just stick with MathJax for this reason. Since I'm already very familiar with LaTeX proper (use it every single work day), it's far less jarring to just use MathJax.

1 feels too restrictive. I'm not sure how easily it would allow for writing math that isn't yet amenable to machine computation. Just as a random example, what if I'm doing some Étale cohomology stuff, maybe throw in some sta

The main appeal isn't merely equations. The appeal is that it produces the best typesetting for prose and equations both.

Isn't the big difference equation numbering? If you actually like to label and eqref stuff, it's not really a replacement. you can get around this I guess, but for me, it's much easier if my basic latex stuff works the same e

Thanks for the reference, I'll check it out! I definitely plan to do something like a 16:8 ad libitum (or actually, if I have a minimum to hit, I guess it isn't ad libitum?) eventually, but I'm still working on just getting u

For a different point of view: I can't imagine being able to sustain restriction to 8 hours for more than a day. I've struggled with gaining weight my entire life, which is certainly not the norm, so I'm not really a central

I guess I don't get it. I thought (and it still seems) that "these people" refers to the DOJ. To be clear, I don't agree with the person you replied to, so we probably agree in the end, I just didn't agree with yo

It seemed to me that the claim was: You can't support the first amendment and be against DOJ participating in legislation. My point was that you in fact can hold that position. The first amendment doesn't extend so far as to mak

Absolutely, I really appreciate this take. Calibre has been amazing for me for years, nothing else comes close. The guy is a hell of a hard worker.

This keyboard is clearly silly, but when it comes to normal mechanical keyboards... well, I can barely live without it now. Volume and necessary force do vary though, so what I like might not be very similar to what you didn't like.

This is disingenuous. My wife for example would be fired if she didn't encrypt medical records that she has no choice but to email as part of her job. There are thousands of people in just our US state that she might need to communicat

This is just the first semester course. In my experience teaching it at GT, it is mostly taken by freshman, and I'm not sure how many majors require it but my students have come from a huge variety of majors. I'm not sure that abs

I've taught this course at GT a few times. For this first introduction to the material, we stay away from anything other than R^n for the most part.

edflsafoiewq's answer is good, but they didn't really mention functors. If you want an umbrella to put functors under, I'd say "higher order structure". It's a map between structures that respects structure.

It is a little more manual, but I think the end result is a little faster during use. This half second delay you mention doesn't happen with my library of over a thousand books. If I had something more automatic, I'd still want to

My solution to this has been to export the library as a bibtex file, which is a built in feature of Calibre, and then use ivy-bibtex (could just as easily use helm-bibtex) to search the library. You need to make sure the file path is part o

Few people, but enough that it's good to have it conclusively answered. Someone on HN in a previous thread put it nicely. Paraphrasing, this brings quantum computing into science/engineering and out of philosophy.

This also misses the point. The point was that optimizing for number of stores closed is the wrong metric to begin with. Who cares how they rank on a metric that doesn't matter?
