I wonder how much their performance can improve if they put the write-instance on dedicated servers (with local and very fast ssd) and use managed services only for read-replicas.

I encountered assembly programs written and compiled in '88 and still running. There are several drawbacks to maintaining this kind of compatibility but, nevertheless, it's impressive.

It depends on IBMs sales target. Some customer may change it even every 3-5 years, but most i saw were between 5 and 7. Energy and data centre floor space are not a real thing here, the mainframe usage of physical resource is nothing compar

Furthermore: a big amount of this data is stored on physical tapes and not hard drives. A LTO-9 tape is able to store up to 45TB of data and doesn't require any electricity when not mounted to be read.

How many businesses or applications really need 99.999999999% durability and 99.99% availability? Is your whole stack organized to deliver the forementioned durability and availability?

There are packages like django-oauth-toolkit. But what is the sense to compare on a single feature? Obviously, Django doesn't cover 100% of use cases but, usually, you choose a technology that simplify you live overall not on specific

Batteries included, easy to start and very fast to develop, tons of packages and resources ... FastAPI make sense only if you write an api for a third party frontend or service.
