This is a commonly echoed complaint but it’s largely without merit. ChatGPT spews nonsense because it has no access to information outside of its training set. In the context of a search engine, single shot learning with the top search resu

That’s a byproduct of ChatGPTs 2021 training date. If you give ChatGPT updated information about JWST and then ask it for a summary, it will give a result much more like google’s.

I feel like that’s how most jokes are created. Your brain spits out random punchlines until one triggers your funny neurons. Recognizing which punchline is funny seems to be beyond the AI at this point.

But why privatize it? If the goal is to reduce contraband digitizing makes sense. This just seems like a new way to for prisons to make money. Digitizing is cheap, certainly no more expensive than hand delivering mail. Privatized prisons sh

Guessing we will see a new popup ad for office 365 at some point. Wouldn’t rule out a start menu ad either.

Just drove my model 3 yesterday and it stopped for stoplights and made turns on its own. Everything in that video exists now and shipped to customers.

I imagine as architectures evolve these language models will need less and less data to improve.

Tesla has two branches of their self driving software, the fsd branch which is under active development and the highway branch which has not had major changes in 2 years. The highway software is much worse around pedestrians and obstacles t

The scams work by getting the victim to send the codes to the scammer. They don’t care about the physical cards.

Not hitting pedestrians is already solved. Waymo couldn’t do driverless taxis rides if it wasn’t. I also have tesla’s fsd beta on my car, and it does a marvelous job not hitting people. If anything it’s way too cautious around pedestrians.

The roads will be so gridlocked no one will drive on them anymore /s. Seriously though there are ways of reducing traffic on the roads like increased registration taxes, raising the price of tolls, gas price hikes (or equivalent dc fas

I’d speculate that even if he’s not doing it intentionally, owning the libs will help boost sales of his cyber truck when it launches next year. The ford f150 is the best selling vehicle of all types in the US, and pickup trucks more often

The lasers were designed in the 90s and are nowhere near state of the art. Modern lasers use in semiconductor manufacturing are far more efficient.

The batteries do exist, but it’s better to use them in cars. If we start diverting our battery supply for grid storage it will drive up the price of EVs.

Even if it doesn’t get smaller (unlikely), we as a society build stadiums all the time. Large construction projects are a small price to pay for abundant clean energy.

I never liked the classist undertones associated with the twitter verified badges. In some ways it’s satisfying to see the badge stripped of its meaning and prestige. That being said the way Musk is going about these changes is damaging to

I’d wager your chances of a break in via lock picking are higher than 8% if the lock on your house is vulnerable to raking.

Twitter’s problem is that it encourages engagement with the absolute worst and most divisive users. Don’t agree with an antisemitic tweet? Your best option is to leave a reply and ratio the poster. Twitter desperately needs a public downvot

The problem with hydrogen is the lack of infrastructure. EVs have suffered from the same problem too but are arguably over the hump. Starting from zero again with range anxiety and no fueling stations sounds exhausting.

The effects on local ecosystems are inconsequential when compared to the impact greenhouse gasses have on the world as a whole. It doesn't matter how high you set your thermostat when your house is on fire.

Yup 2022.24 should have a lot of the autopilot changes from the FSD branch. I haven’t tried it personally but reports are that phantom braking is reduced there too.

Phantom braking is much improved on the FSD branch even during highway driving. Went from 2022.16 to beta 10.69 and it was night and day difference. Haven’t had a single phantom brake in weeks.

The output of the “occupancy network” isn’t displayed to the user right now. It doesn’t do classification, it’s just raw voxels. The real bummer is that without ultra sonics the car can’t see the ground in front of it. Hopefully tesla adds
