Tmobile Starlink is text only. It definitely does not support 3G data speeds.

I was under the impression that the iPhone needs to be very precisely pointed at a satellite for this to work. I doubt it can be done passively when the phone is in your pocket.

You can put the seat heater back on the main screen in the latest update. Drag and drop it onto to the app bar.

Driving the speed of traffic is safer than driving the speed limit. Or what about when you’re seeking shelter during a tornado warning or bringing someone to the hospital. Or maybe you just want to get away from a road raging a-hole. Peopl

You’d eliminate all traffic fatalities if you limited cars to 5 mph. We as a society have collectively decided that X number of traffic fatalities are acceptable. It’s the price everyone pays for efficient transportation. Why 150km/h a

Unlikely, their most recent software update increased the max speed back up to 85mph. They’ve got feature parity between the stacks now, no reason for them to spend money on radar.

That’s not true. The M1 has 8, the M1 pro has 10, and the M1 ultra has 20.

Considering that cars already kill people en mass there's no real advantage to slowing the pace of SDV development other than to make people feel warm and fuzzy. I personally prefer Tesla's approach where they give customers permi

That's part of it. Another part of it is that Tesla's computer vision is still a work in progress which introduces unnecessary jitter into the visualization. The good news is that they seem to be making improvements and the jitter

I wonder if its possible that the FSD beta graphics use more power to render. Would be dumb to lower range on all Teslas for what is essentially eye candy. Even on FSD vehicles the visualization reverts when FSD is not engaged.

That would be a real shame. I really want someone to make a high core count ARM processor in the price range of an AMD threadripper that can work with Nvidia gpus.

Anyone have a sense for how much these will cost? Is this more akin to the Mac Studio that costs 4k or an A100 gpu that costs upward of 30k? Looking for an order of magnitude.

New die with 64 M1 cores and support for 4TB of ram. Basically fill whatever market the threadripper fills.

Falcon 9 has 9 engines, it’s not like Spacex is unfamiliar with putting multiple engines on a rocket. That being said we have yet to see more than 3 raptors in flight at a time, so the upcoming orbital test flight will be interesting to wat

No one wants to wear a headset if it makes them look stupid. If AR glasses are a dead end then mass adoption of AR outside of gaming/enterprise is likely DOA.

Equating rolling stops to rape has to be the worst argument against FSD I’ve ever heard. I’m honestly at a loss for words. Safely proceeding through an intersection without coming to a complete stop hurts nothing, except maybe the feelings

It’s not serious at all imho. People roll stop signs all the time, it’s part of driving culture. If you feel obligated to obey the letter of every driving law you could have turned it off in settings. Tesla also has an option to override th

That Tesla headline is misleading. Should be “Tesla Removes Rolling Stops from Assertive Driving Profile”. Tesla added rolling stops to make the car behave more human like. NHTSA said no, so Tesla removed the feature.

It's not a matter of software reliability. The rolling stops was an intensionally added feature to make the car behave more naturally/human-like at stop signs. Tesla knows how to make the car stop at stop signs, they simply chose
