I think CD quality is a good analogy to 4k, 1080p is mp3 128 and 1440p is mp3 320. 1080p isn't quite human level perception, but no one will notice if they aren't trying. 1440p is essentially exactly human perception, and 4k is sl

Oh, yeah important caveat for sure. If you go to the store now many TV brands don't even sell mid/high level TVs smaller than 55", unless they are intended for gaming (probably expected to sit closer).

You're right, DLSS is specifically for games, I forgot "super resolution" was the name for the Nvidia model that runs in full screen mode, which I've used and is pretty cool, seemingly better than automatic upscaling in

Article doesn't mention AI upres tech like DLSS, which could be the future. My experience on 4k monitors is that DLSS is noticably better than 1080, and not much worse than native 4k. Don't know about 8k, but I think 4k is a sweet

Why not set your own hard qualifications and just ask applications to check if they have them or not? Why use a fuzzy AI algorithm at all, especially since the cost of a resume screen is so low relative to the cost of hiring poorly?

People talk about efficiency a lot, but they miss the basic point that efficiency in a free market means lower prices and decreased profits (due to competition). Companies profits are soaring. Folks upset about lay offs are not against that

EDIT 2: Wanted to say that personally I have an interchangeable lens camera _and_ a Richoh, and think of the Richoh as costing about the same as a (nice) lens. The more you do photography the more you will realize there isn't just one

Personally I love my Ricoh GR III. There are two versions, one is 28mm and another is 40mm (GR IIIX). They are fixed lens which sounds bad, but in reality it prevents you from constantly thinking about buying new lenses and switching lenses

I hear you. It's good to point out and hold accountable people in positions of power who are corrupt. My argument is that (to me) I doubt a leader being corrupt is uncommon. Thus I think it's worth questioning why we are focusing

Before this scandal basically no one knew or cared who the president of Harvard was. All of a sudden, we all have an opinion. I think the issue we have is not a culture restricting free speech, I think the issue is a media landscape that sp

I wonder if Resume Driven Development is a reaction rather than a cause. For instance, you see companies laying off everyone and pushing bad products, so you decide "I might as well use some cool new tools and make myself employable&qu

Why is it assumed that someone who is convinced by arguments is prone to wrong ideas? Wouldn't that type of person become iteratively closer to the truth every time they hear a new argument and compare to the others they've heard?

Agree the analogy is inappropriate and (unintentionally?) deceptive. That is, it's used to make you feel the argument is more correct than it is by borrowing the trust we have in "fancy" ideas from math/physics. The whol
