Life is expensive. Kids are even more expensive. With both partners working, having a kid is one hell of a pandora's box regarding costs, care etc. People have a high expectation of what is a reasonable standard of living for their kid

Eh, people will find a reason to judge you anyways. I am jarred to the point of thinking none of it matters, usually the person has an opinion of me before I even meet them anyways. Conversely, trying to move into relatively in demand thing

I used to call this "putting myself out of a job", to be a bit cheeky. People were happy with it - you should give it a shot.

Most companies have a referral system. You also know the structure inside: meaning you can say hi to a hiring manager you may or may not know, and say “check this guy out - I vouch for him”

Any suggestions on how to turn this second PC into a remote thing? (i.e. code on one device, and this second PC just runs training)

If anyone sees this, please add a "talk" option. It would be an amazing way to interact: especially if we can continue editing while talking.

I definitely agree, although I wonder how to do a switch to stay relevant. Any ideas on that front?

I cannot agree more wholeheartedly. I hope it does not turn into an end of an era. I want to have at least some parts of life that make sense...

In this context it is a sign they bend their knees and kiss the ring. Shareholders have been feeling that the tech workers held too much power, and companies were openly / not-so-openly having a fight with their shareholders, so to spe

People who are not frontenders regularly look at frontend and think it is easier / simpler to work with. If anything, complexity grew like an atom bomb.

We don’t get junior engineers for solving problems we tend to get them because they grow into other roles.

...and? Your point? Putting it to spotlight is an effort to make sure they can't get away with it. Even in a scenario where you say "of course they do it", jumping to the conclusion of "we should not report on it" i

I sincerely believe in the value of these technologies. I think, similar to dotcom, there are shining stars and there are scams. However the sheer starry eyed ignorance in this sector is worrisome. Whilst optimism helps in keeping going in

I think the question of "what is the value of non-targeted ads / contextual ads", "what is the risk of an aging population", "how to price tiktok risk" are all also a part of it. The issue I have with them

Oh definitely, we are not disagreeing. I have two rules personally - don't invest in highly speculative assets, don't invest short term. So I am out of $META in general, as it fails the test on both prongs for me. It is highly vol

This is quite a bad read of what they are doing. In essence, demand from crypto that ended up vanishing to a great extent overnight (ETH Merge), supply chain disruptions and shaky economy means supply and demand is less and less predictable

It really depends on company culture. Based on what I think the place you work at is, I think chances are you will be prime PIP candidate - regardless of your contribution. It sucks, don't get me wrong, just being frank.

If you don't mind me asking how old are you (I presume somewhere in 40s?)? This is scary as hell, to hear banks refuse loans due to age.
