Oh, I have an example for you: One of my neighbors used a leaf blower just hours before the expected arrival of a hurricane. Explain that one.

Another obscure Thanksgiving fact: Thanksgiving is commonly known as a celebration of a good harvest, but the reason why the harvest was good is seldom remembered. Plymouth Colony was originally communal. Marx was far from the first to thin

There is just as much "ugh" in saying that it was about slavery instead of state's rights. Either way, you're leaving out important things. This misleads by oversimplification. You'd be better off saying it was abou

The world has what, maybe a dozen countries with nuclear weapons after 7 decades? I think the restrictions have worked very very well, especially considering just how desirable nuclear weapons are. The "why" is pretty simple. Tech

Another alternative that I'm sure you'd hate: we consider that category of information to be "born classified", just as we do for some nuclear warfare secrets. When you file for your patent, you are told that the patent

The argument you made against the city or state solution applies equally well to the federal solution. People cross borders for housing. It takes a very strong deterrent to stop this. You can choose to help people and enforce borders, or yo

Another reason is the very strong motivation provided by your winter. Being homeless results in death, which explains why you have very few homeless people in Scandinavia.

They can move around the world too, so "federal" isn't going to do the job, at least without adding an effective deterrent to crossing borders.

I don't think anybody actually likes export control restrictions, but do you have a better idea for how we might keep this technology away from foreign governments? It appears that the only thing worse than export control restrictions

Perhaps this is the goal. Locating the offices in areas with high housing costs is an effective way to discriminate against people with families. Such people might not want to dedicate life fully to the company. Getting people to live in ap

The point is that any violent person unable to be portrayed as "the right" is quickly dropped by the news. The shooting was on the way to being the big news story of the month... and then suddenly dropped out of the news entirely.

I don't know why you'd characterize that shooter as "the right". He really hated Trump. He was a socialist. There are a lot of these cases, where a violent person is unjustly tagged as "the right". When someone

You're no less protected than you are when you call a function. Nothing ensures that a function can safely be called. uint8_t is effective protection, given the normal assumption of a stack with 4096 to 16384 bytes of space and a call

The only fully correct term, as used in our laws and in numerous Supreme Court rulings, is "illegal alien". Shortening that to "aliens" causes confusion with legal aliens (people legitimately here with a valid visa, etc.

Making that a uint8_t would solve the problem. Non-kernel code (with a normal stack) could also make it a uint16_t.

There is a huge flaw inherent in that study. It is assumed that the people claiming to be Americans without ID are in fact Americans without ID. It's kind of hard to verify this without ID, eh? The given percentages are in the ballpark

It doesn't work like that. The poor have ID. Sure, it isn't easy, but they get ID because they need it for damn near everything. For example, you mentioned "work hours". If they are legally working, they have ID. If they
