There is hardly any real C code in Gio, it's just bindings for the platforms' APIs (X11, Wayland, GL). Somehow, they managed to avoid requiring CGO on Windows so it's 100% Go there.

That would be sublime! Defer is something I've been wanting in C for 20 years. It makes resource management clear, easy to reason about, and concise.

In this specific case the fast compilation is down to having 0 dependencies. Rust is usually only rivalled by npm in terms of number of dependencies that a typical project pulls. This project is a refreshing take!

You, Me, and the 12 other IRC users remaining aren't going anywhere. But denying that Discord has effectively killed IRC is just self-delusion in my opinion.

There's lots of precedent. We just have to look at the Ukraine-Russia war. Ukraine has shut down everything but the state-sponsored television. Russia has shut down most independent media since the beginning of the war as well. But adm

Both Android and iOS will do that when you receive a MMS. Even if the MMS is supposedly on an intranet, it wouldn't surprise be that a poor implementation might expose the rest of the system to internet for a brief moment.
