They typically charge by weight and if you're doing laundry for a family of four, it will get very expensive very quickly.

It absolutely is not. Police State does not refer to excessive policing. It means police enforcing political agenda. Frankly, the US has a disgusting excess of traffic fatalities and no Constitutional protections to driving. I think heavy-h

The docs say it's possible to resize images from an external source like S3 using Cloudflare Images. It seems like it's not straightforward, but would be possible with some configuration.

Kinda short on analysis. This could be grade inflation, it could be better prep or even cheating. Or just a short-term statistical aberration that regresses to the mean in a year or two.

Having been through enough procurement cycles as both a buyer and seller there does not need to be a whit of malfeasance for a bad decision to occur. It's aggressive sales, price wars, poorly informed decision makers, gut instinct, fav

They say they run this process multiple times a day. Must be tens of thousands of deployments. I'd guess complacency set in at some point. Just completely inured to the risks they were taking.

It seems all the concerns boil down to economics. I don't think people did nearly as much cost-benefit analysis in the past. The fact that college was affordable meant you were freer to experiment and enjoy yourself. Now that the price

Yeah, this exactly. VCs fueled by low interest rates sold the world on free content forever and when the well dried up, all the legacy businesses that wanted to invest in quality and human capital were left holding the bag. It isn't ju

I have to say I find their GenAI offerings muddled at best. I genuinely don't understand what Bedrock is trying to solve.

I used to work at a place that did some custom hardware development. Usually one-off or very limited run. Any time we fabricated a case and plugged in off-the-shelf devices, certification was not necessary. If we did custom wiring we got ET

You're describing what happens without checks and balances. An independent judiciary routinely determines what is and isn't true. It is arguably one of the most fundamental functions of government to determine agreed upon truth.

Honestly I don't think so. You can write a statute in a way that is at least partially enforceable and that may be enough. We already have functional laws against perjury that have a higher standard than simply saying something wrong.

Burying the lede is when your headline isn't the most important bit of information. When the headline is completely inaccurate, it's called clickbait.

I remember/r/the_donald. I saw a Trump parade in 2015 where they flew those green Nazi flags. I see what they cheer for at rallies. What he says to get approval. It's absolutely disgusting. Is this their version of punishing

So them being vindictive over losing elections made them pliable enough to reject democracy and it's our fault so we should apologize? No. There's no excuse. At some point you have just admit that some people have bad intentions.

I don't need to understand the voters to know they're causing a very bad outcome. Trying to assert some sort of equivalence is what got us here.

Read up on Project 2025 if you haven't already. The plan is to stack the executive with party loyalists. And he would have immunity. Rules and laws only exist in as much as people believe in them and enforce them. That could all just s

You do not have a right to paved roads. I don't believe there would be any constitutional barricade to NYC closing every one of it's public roads and selling the land to private owners.

As an NYC resident I was literally just looking forward to fewer cars. That's an end unto itself. If the program successfully discouraged enough drivers to earn no income, then that's an optimal result.

Read some Steven Pinker. Your observations about our present state are not wrong, but seriously consider every other point in human history and realize we are not worse off in any measurable way. In fact, much better.
