Well a bit exaggerated. Seen two Fortune 500 companies moving all never stuff to Kotlin on backend on my own eyes (for the reason I mentioned above) in some branches.

Don’t get me wrong F# seems like a nice lang but definitely not mainstream (non geeks don’t use purely functional langs). You can’t deny Kotlin is bigger lang than F# by any ranking from those popular (Tiobe) to unknown ones and is build on

Well you are clearly out of JVM world. See supported langs here https://start.spring.io/ (most popular JVM framework) Kotlin is especially popular on backend if you can’t jump out of JDK8 F# is functional - by definition no

F# is not mainstream lang - it’s more like Clojure for .NET. My point was - you don’t have that variety in .NET as in JVM (Scala, Kotlin, Groovy are all relatively mainstream)

If you want to move faster in JVM world use Kotlin. There is no alternative in .NET world- that’s why JVM ecosystem is much better (and bigger)

Well Dart as language is better than C# and Flutter is way more matured. This is only interesting for Microsoft shops

I really hoped someone will help get rid of Putin from inside RU by this moment (I believe there are plenty of who may not necessary love him). EU should really put more cash on table to help UA.

Trabant had accident, and got out of the road, next to the Cowpie. Cowpie asks Trabant: - hey who are you? - who? Me? I am a car! - yea, sure. If you are a car, I am a pizza!

Well maybe you should use C++ or Rust instead of Java or C# in that case? My point is if you are doing business (especially web) apps. Use one of JVM langs insted of C# because ecosystem is much bigger (and it has fresher langs as well like

Kotlin is younger and made better choices by default, like immutable "val" as default option. Also since it's Jetbrains - IDE integration is superior compared to anything C# can have (including Rider...)

I used to be .NET dev and don't agree. Couple of reaons: 1) Modern Java is almost as good as C# with some things I can't give up in Java (static imports => succint code, Groovy Spock => succint tests) 2) Kotlin is better tha

Another Vim vs Emacs story. One of my CS teachers at PUT (Poznań University of Technology) used to say: Kto ma jaja używa viaja (which rhymes in polish and means: one who have balls is using vim) RIP

Dear downvoters please do care to express your opinion instead of downvoting. I will help you making strong statement - why would I use smaller ecosystem (.net vs jvm) and worse general purpose lang (C# Vs Kotlin) if I am not Microsoft sho

Personally I don't like .NET anymore because it's almost exclusively C# only (which seems quite dated compared to eg. Kotlin). JVM env is much more scattered across multiple languages.

Kafka and friends can be used in reactive pattern paradigm ( understood as here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRxLfUIMJwk&t ) - only partially overlaping ES idea, which in general has much more sense to me.

Still Visual Studio is simply broken compared to IntelliJ (especially for web dev) and there is not even a fraction of libs available for .NET compared to Spring Boot (take a look here: https://start.spring.io/ ) We will see

I've quite unique experience beeing .net dev turning into jvm ecosystem. My decision to switch was based on fact that web is growing and .Net is simply...not fitting there. Specifically what I mean is current VS is just not usable for
