I used to be in SF and in South Bay. Recently moved to Seattle , closely associated to the India and Swiss tech ecosystem. In my experience further away you are from SF, less cutting edge you are. In my experience even South Bay is 6 months

Yes, that is one of the main factors. And the ground reality is that right now a new employment based Green Card petitioner from India would need to wait 70 years.

I agree. But my point was that there was a natural resistance to scaling to global levels. Which is detrimental if you are in a market which has a potential to be dominated by a global mega corp.

Imagine you build an AirBnb like solution limited to Switzerland market. AirBnb will eventually come and eat your lunch. In today's globalized world - if you are not one of the bigger players and do not have moat (govt contract, some o

I have been involved with Swissnex and been advising Swiss startups for some time. I also go to Switzerland every other year if not every year and meet with startups there. Things I noticed: 1. Incredibly smart people. 2. Behind Silicon Val

In terms of my time, it has been very valuable. I had to spend quite some time working around Heroku's limitations. We have had 100% uptime (based on external monitoring) since we moved to Elastic Beanstalk. Health check based rolling

While I agree that a script can't match what Heroku does, in the end Heroku shouldn't be used for anything serious. I love Heroku for it's simplicity. They give you very few levers, making it less likely for you to screw up.

Medical system in India is a mess of kickbacks. A Doctor gave my cousin a prescription of Calcitriol because it was much more expensive. Led to major side effects which went away as soon as it was stopped. Supplements don't have it. Ho

One point of caution: Anyone who takes Vitamin D supplement, make sure you take 25-Hydroxy (Calcifediol) and not the active form - 1,25 dihydroxy (Calcitriol). Active form has severe side effects and is not supposed to be used for supplemen

Yep, they are and also the best form. Extremely unstable in capsules and oral supplements though. Methylcobalamin isn't very effective orally. However someone with a gene mutation doesn't have any choices.

It's difficult to determine whether there is a selection bias. Many people who smoke, take Vitamin B12 supplements. Anyways it's a good idea to not overdo these supplements.

Another big challenge in winter months is that people are so covered with warm clothes, that even going out in Sun doesn't help much.

Thanks for this added information. I discovered the same thing, with another family member where Methylcobalamin worked wonders and Cyanocobalamin didn't. One thing I would add is that Methylcobalamin needs to be injected to work best.

This article recommends around 100 nmol/L. Most people are between 20-30, because they don't get enough Sun and do not take supplements. It gets really really bad when the number gets below 10 and it takes months to recover. Anoth

Summary is adults need at least 8000 IU of Vitamin D per day. This confirm what I have suspected since almost a decade. I have been taking 5k Vitamin D per day since one of my cousin had serious health issues because of low vitamin D for 3

Love this scene and the movie. It's my most favorite movie. I have seen it about 40 times right now, many times in Theater. Stanford theater in Palo Alto screens this frequently and have made many friends there at Casablanca screenings

In this case, it probably doesn't matter. Saudi Arabia is trying to buy all these assets to secure their future. Returns will likely be reinvested or stashed abroad! However with the dismal future of oil based economies and the unstabl

So Uber's new CEO is talking about the transition time and Uber's value during that time. Makes sense! The original comment was wondering why should Uber invest in building Autonomous Driving at all. And I am suggesting that once

I agree. The user behavior has already been developed. And Uber doesn't have any special user loyalty. There is no reason for users to not try another app. If the tech is indeed safer vs human, it would also have an added benefit of no

My understanding is that in a reasonably stable state, an autonomous car would run on battery, charge itself and cost 40k. If a car has a life time of 5 years and electricity costs 4k/yr + 2k maintenance (lower for electric cars), we a

Uber is valuable only because it has solved a two party network problem at a city level. You need drivers and you need riders. If you don't have any drivers riders won't come and vice versa. Two party networks are much more diffic

Couldn't agree more. I did the same. Big improvement in performance and I have a better idea of how to customize as per my preference. I was also worried about random code getting downloaded to my machine and getting executed.

I think the biggest cost in this business is the human component. For that all you need to do is check the price difference between renting for a day or getting taxi for a day. Given a choice, Uber would love to be the first to have self dr

I disagree with this. Infosys and TCS are the real culprits here. They are bringing extremely bad quality people on low wages to displace American workers. They are the ones abusing the system. Did you know that any employee at these compan
