There's scores of evidence and studies about this. Don't feel like looking all of them up. https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/news/20080227/antidepres...

Why is the highest purpose in life children? Of course he had a responsibility for another human being, but why is that the highest good? Are we not allowed to strive for more? Or consider other higher goods?

I always wonder if the other projects are just retainer projects. They dont really care as much what happens, they just dont want those engineers on the open market.

Google's main problem is that they only promote people for releasing new products. So all the engineers and product people are highly incentive to only work on new launches. Doesn't even matter what it is. So now they end up with

JIRA could be parsed to do this, specifically when git commits are tagged to tickets. Quite an effort to get all that data in the right form though

"Interesting to see the genesis of the myth of the 10x programmer." How could it be a myth? Ever see a professional sports player compete against a non professional player? Why wouldnt this dynamic exist in programming?

The big companies, Google/Fb/etc hire that way but they also bring on niche experts. Leet code at those companies is for the code monkeys. They hire the people writing the ML/distributed systems/security code out of PhD

My take on Quora and business like them: They are hiring people based on leet code questions and school prestige and not based on real technical knowledge about systems. Their business people are top school MBA grads with no security domain

For the most part a software engineering job at google is pretty mediocre from a coding perspective. Most people hired there will never work on cutting edge tech. For the enlightened few its amazing. This is speaking strictly about the work

"It is misogynist in its worldview" How can something that's an accurate description of reality be misogynist? Unless you are claiming what I said to be false.

The weird thing is most people will call you a misogynist for bringing this up. I would argue that in most major US cities there is already a large "harem" dynamic. It's mostly invisible to the general population, but quite o

This is the elephant in the room that most people don't want to discuss. Young women get confused, they are able to "short term date" men out of their league and so then balk at men who are their equals. I've seen a numb

I'm saying that its true that some are monopolies, but none really stay that way for long, and so its completely overrated to worry about. It's a similar talking point to how we are in an "AI bubble", good for clicks on

Big tech companies arent really monopolies. A ton of them can disappear overnight, its just a trendy thing to harp on. Look at the irrelevance of IBM, CISCO, HP, Intel, Oracle, etc. The list goes on and on, companies fail to innovate after

How is there not more interest in this? This is huge for anyone trying to bootstrap a machine learning business. If you need a 24/7 on prediction service the costs of full fledged GPUs can be prohibitive and a waste. This allows me to
