In regards to #1, I mean we shouldn't be asked to explicitly direct the iteration of the loop. We should say "loop over these things" rather than "start from 1 and stop at 10". MOST of the time we're explicit

Like you, I appreciated his comment. It was honest, and I have been there. We are in the shaking-out phase of this change. The bigger problem is management isn't across-the-board good at determining productivity in-person or remote.

There are 2 things I've obsessed about in C & C++ land: 1) Why are we explicitly directing a loop forward or backward most of the time when it's not necessary. The compiler should direct the loop unless we want to explicitly

I think a group of people kind of ruins the outward image of every country. Is there validity to the Chinese gov doing nefarious things? Are they running concentration camps, infiltrating American companies, and expanding their sea border

Whatever way this goes, to claw back uses from Chrome, Firefox with Servo must support the Chrome Embedded Framework: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium_Embedded_Framework

I think we'll see research into how to appraise AI models for what has been weighted. Whether a model creates objectively fair reasonings or creates something harmful. Also data democratization of these models (having them available

I'm pretty happy with Chat GPT. There was yet-another thread about the degradation of Google Search results a few weeks ago and folks here talked about the uselessness of it's results. I remember when my mom taught me to "s

I get so tired of what would seem like very simple things breaking in Teams. All this last week I've been recording conference calls with Powerpoint. I understand there's a recording function within Teams, but it started out sin

Thanks for articulating this. I hadn't thought about how using the courts for social change is a relatively new thing (maybe since the civil rights act in the ~60s).

I think the courts are meant to settle disputes quickly, not justly. The appearance of swift justice.

I'm sure this is a false equivalency in some way, but many gov postings have wages set to the locality. My cousin was offered wages for a particular agency location, and required to move to the area.

I don't think people disagree with legitimate content, just the huge amounts of spying the Chinese gov does. If anything it highlights that Google needs to take privacy seriously and close the same doors they and other companies use t

I'm imagining within any group of legal experts there's disagreement on how to approach risk/liability and manage it, if it is unavoidable. You need a dictator :) The parent is probably right: Not a nefarious agreement, but

I wrote a response to your comment that I don't think was fair. I acknowledge and I do believe what you're saying: I've seen racists articulate something terrible with enough complex words to hide that message in academic se

My layman's understanding of CRT is that it's a study performed at the collegiate level of how a system can systemically and disproportionately disadvantage minorities, whether by intended design or not. Here are some examples: h

I know it's not related to the rendering engine, but I really hope side-effort is expended on marrying Firefox to the Chrome Embedded Framework (CEF). This is a major roadblock to getting Firefox in more embedded, webview, and in-game

As a sidenote, I had the impression Brave was some cryptocurrency delusion too. They have a much more extensive list of privacy modifications than Firefox does. I was impressed on a 2nd look, and you opt-in to the crypto nonsense.
