And you can think that, just like people can think you are racist for telling Indians what they can and can’t find reasonable about their own stereotypes. “I should hire some bottom of the barrel bootcamp graduates”. Bootcamp graduates in t

Your analogy does not hold water because there is not an existing stigma you’d be playing into if you had said that. Lack of sensitivity towards racism doesn’t excuse you from being racist. And it’s ok. Mistakes happen. I think all anyone i

These people are arguing with you over something so basic as common decency and acknowledgement of casual racism. Even here on HN, we are not immune to the density of the ego.

This is why I HN. Thank you for that clear account of the discovery, funny what a little curiosity can lead to. Not masking the names further makes me wonder if whoever actually implemented this may not have been aware of the repercussions.

I’ve had jobs where this has gone on for years at a time. I’ve also had jobs that this behavior would get noticed and called out after two sprints. It’s obvious, and either everyone is in on it or no one is. “In between” only comes from the

This is spot on, and I like that you don’t need hardware for it unlike opendime. Phone numbers are a bit scary though, prone to SIM takeover hacks and other insecurities. And you still have to ask for/have their phone number. I’d prefe

Well said, I agree with that, although I do think there is a difference between trusting a central authority to maintain an opaque system vs merely being a regulatory figure maintaining a transparent system. If that’s even possible :) We ar
