I think a lot of this is subjective. The ideal you're trying to serve in an RPG is making the player identify as deeply as possible with their character. For some people, having complete, instant physical control and a sense of place a

I'm sure I'm not the only one that in Morrowind onwards (heck, Starfield too), I always drag various followers along for the ride to avoid playing solo. In Oblivion it was weeks before I even started the main quest because I wante

To be clear: the win here is that there's no longer duplicated (or worse - less capable and outdated) code to do the same things in both the bootloader and the kernel, however the two versions of that code might be deployed.

Fascinating to me that this only mentions phones once in passing, and even if it had made a big deal about that seismic change in the industry, it would still be wrong. It doesn't mention Microsoft's struggles in the console marke

I'm always slightly sad when software developers are confident that software can't possibly make them more productive.

Raoul McLaughlin in The Roman Empire and the Indian Ocean estimates that customs taxes on trade through Red Sea ports could have accounted for fully _one third_ of all Roman income in the first century AD. It’s always been fascinating to me

Been thinking about knowledge management a bit lately, and maybe doing it well is just impossible and you should let the AIs embrace the chaos for you. But I still have this lingering question: what number employee should your CIO be (if an

But neither of those outcomes is desirable from a wider viewpoint. Society doesn’t benefit from companies only innovating by stealing from each other, nor does it benefit from active collusion.

An awful lot of complexity hidden behind the word 'unhobbling' here, for example page 33. Not to say we can't overcome those challenges, but they're by no means tweaks in the margins.

Computationally a very interesting problem though, optimising for minimal edit distance (in both text and sound) weighted by frequency. Coming soon to a coding interview near you, no doubt.

I don't know if this is buggy or if the approach is just flawed, but there are a lot of missed opportunities for clearer mappings here. Another comment showed an example where 'response' maps to 'spahns' which is a

Blogs aren’t just content, and there’s no correlation between the resources available and the quality. They’re popular (both to read and to write!) because they’re a venue for authentic human voices. Like adding “reddit” to a google query t

Coupled with deleting my Twitter account, having a newspaper subscription has given me a much more mindful relationship with the news. It’s also just some space carved into my day, and as I’ve grown older I’ve realised how much I value thes

GraphQL always felt to me like it solved the easy part of the problem and offered nothing to solve the hard part. I have a similar response to things like Zanzibar. At the end of the day I want to go and get some stuff out of a database, an

These just seem like sagas, but with the drawback that you now have an additional service for every saga (so now you have N+M problems?) Also if you centrally own all business processes, why did you land upon a microservices architecture in
