Personally I don't base my opinions of someone on their public support of the things I support. I like Jobs because I like his products, I couldn't care less about Gates because I find his products sloppy and awkward to use. Why do we have

Being cool takes a lot of work. You can't just write one text editor, get your 10 minutes and then carry on. It's a constant battle where you always have to be looking for those 10-minutes-of-cool. In other words, people who care about 'c

While the first type of ad (the 160 hours in 2 weeks for $500 ones) are obviously ignore-worthy, the second I don't see the big deal about. It's simply some new slang around the growing-in-popularity field of software development. It shows

It's enabled 'by default', but it's still a regular Firefox extension that can be turned off easily. Comment #2 by Alexander Sack reads: Thanks. To workaround you can disable the extension in tools -> addons. Later Adam Bielinsky fles

Just a clarification: It's not 'mandatory', it just gets installed by default with the Firefox package. Put clearly this means "you can just disable it". Still, what a crappy 'extension' to Firefox :/, this is why I build mine from source.

I stopped there, too. I guess I haven't read enough gizmodo to have expected it. Later, I brought myself to read the whole article and it was better... Still, considering the alternative's to Windows available these days -- the article does

I used pygame a lot back in college and had a lot of fun doing it, but... hasn't someone on the project noticed the god awful website yet? That thing is embarrassing!

Then a virtual machine would be the obvious choice.

Unfortunately, no. Go to a blank line inside a code block that's indented a bit and hit tab. Nothing happens :/ I wasn't clear above, I have been able to have it never insert a tab, but it's that and the "don't try to 'intelligently' preven

I'd love to finally use emacs 24/7 (rather than randomly jumping between (ubuntu) gedit, gvim, vim, emacs and (osx) textmate) but arg I still can't figure out how to force emacs to: Never insert a tab character, ever. When I press tab, j

Hey I'm no fan of Windows, but I really don't see what's so wrong with having a 2-3GB virtual machine around on an external hard drive or something so you can sync your iPod. Perhaps if you're that against Windows on some sort of fundamenta

Maybe I don't read enough flame wars but I feel like hatred is a bit of a strong word. I'm thoroughly unimpressed with almost all of Microsoft's software, but I really don't see the point of any 'hate'. Perhaps this is Linus' point :)

Wow, I don't get all of this. I use Ubuntu and have an iPod touch, it doesn't sync at all, total brick. But, obviously, I have a windows partition (or, sometimes, virtual machine) which I use to test in IE or play games, etc... So I just us

WOW. I'm finding this hard to believe. So the MacBook Pro 13" doesn't have an 8bit display, that's a little lame, we agree. But, here's the problem. You were in an Apple store and used the laptop and didn't notice. Then you took the lapto

There's a difference between removing hate-speech from comment threads and such and removing the group entirely because we don't agree with it. You're right, though, that the issue is deeper than free speech. What I gather from Facebook's p
