Huh, for some reason I'm one of these people who wake up every day with no plan. I am not sure if that's because of ADHD or CPTSD but I start every day with empty head and a bit of anxiety. It takes me at least 15 minutes to remin

I think that's because a lot of Hacker News readers are autistic and/or ADHD (I am). As autistic I love to catalog things and as ADHD sufferer I need notes to be able to function in the modern works.

ADHD is not a "mental quirk". It's a serious condition that often make people incompatible with modern world. It's like being blind. Everything blind person is doing in his/her life is affected by being blind.

The name on the map/globe would be "Marshall Islands" if independent or "Marshall Islands (U.S.)" if still a US territory.

IMHO there is still no way to detect ADHD by brain scan. Please provide link, maybe my knowledge is outdated.

Do they even have paper sales receipts? Maybe the cash register is integrated with accounting software and is only printing receipts for customers.

We have a method for that - it's called "fuzzy logic".

"Driving over a double yellow to give more space to something inside of the road when there is no other car approaching from opposite direction and visibility is good" is still a rule that the AI-powered car can use.

I don't think there is something like "true understanding of the world". Every driver has his own "understanding of the (road) world". Some are careful, some are agressive. It depends on personal experience

We can add the exception for the car "if there is no another car approaching and you have to overtake a bike then you can go over double yellow but you need to reduce speed" - computers are fast enough to analyze thousands of rule

Yeah, human drivers make mistakes all the time and we are fine with that. We allow teenagers and elderly people drive, so why we can't accept that AI-steered cars will sometimes cause an accident.

"Common sense" is a set of rules. I see a lot of drivers doing stupid things and I will confess that I am one of them sometimes so it's not like 'common sense" is some kind of magical human ability that we are born

"Common sense" is just knowledge about society and our environment. It's not some kind of magic.

I have similar problem. I don't have inner monologue, so when I want to share my thoughts, I try to compile them in real time during the speaking. Which means I have no idea how the sentence will end or if I will even be able to get to

Yeah, I believe that's some kind of personal bias. For example,I think that much of burnout (and anxiety) is caused by undiagnosed CPTSD (Complex/Childhood PTSD). But that's probably because it's a source of my problems

I think it's because many important people still think that ADHD is some kind of imaginary disease.

It could be a problem of a definition. In my country, a "developer" is someone who constructs buildings not for himself but to sell them to others. If I build a house for myself, then I am not a "developer". The differen

Yeah, if someone would pronounce "Gdańsk" with silent "G" then that would be true. But someone fluent in Polish would pronounce "G-dańsk" with clear "gh".
