The problem with supporting APFS and HFS+ at the same time is that FileVault and Time Machine need to be very different on APFS. FileVault can take advantage of the transparent encryption feature of APFS and TimeMachine can simply backup a

It looks like a nicer version of the 1 euro coin. I like that the coin isn't round but 12-sided, which will certainly help visually impaired people use the coin. I wonder if they will introduce a new 6-sided 50p coin.

I prefer a western democracy over an easter dictatorship any day. And only because the US democracy is going the way of Poland and Hungary and it is close to fail in Turkey doesn't mean it will fail everywhere. Taiwan has a democracy,

I guess, reading between the lines isn't your strong suit. I'm not talking about democracy tomorrow, I'm talking about a process of democratisation in China, they could start with Hong Kong and go on with abolishing the death

The US could also finally get rid of the death penalty, but it is still a democracy, with a working court system. Can change faster than you think but maybe, just maybe, it won't.

It would be cheaper to open up the country, introduce a democratic system and actual human rights, and abolish the death penality. Make peace with Tibet, agree with Taiwan on a good neighborhood. Support a democratic change also in North Ko

The translation is wrong, it is the Federal Network Agency. Comparable with the FCC in the US but it also regulates other network based markets. But they have nothing to do with the BND. See https://www.bundesnetzagentur.de/

The worst news in this announcement by Google is that "Quote Selected Text" in Gmail will be retired, it was essentially the only lab feature I used, I even got used to. I'm sad to see it go.

For me as customer, Amazon is almost the best, some times I think it could be better. The UX for their video service is awful, but okay. For its employees I hear only bad things, like that Amazon won't talk to the union in Germany or w

I wonder when the actual talks are starting, in April France elects a new president. In September Germany elects a new parliament. Who knows how the situation is in October and who May has to talk to.

I think the last MP3 patent will expire by the end of the year, I always thought AC-3 is younger than MP3 but well. (Almost the same age) MP3 is also an example of prolonged patent validity, it was approved in 1991, published in 1993 but th

I kinda hoped that TLS 1.3 had some magick in it so that those MITM proxies would no longer work because they can be recognized by the browser and the browser can say: how about no. Also, wasn't there some security issues relating to t

What I don't like about Widevine/EME in Chrome: you don't when it is being used. It would be a big improvement if you knew and could ask the website why it is using EME on something. Of course it should also possible to know

In Germany the issue is, there is enough money to plan and build motorways but not for train routes. Consequence is, that many routes are over capacity and cargo, local, and long distance trains share one track. The result is that one delay

Maybe I'm naive but when someone is paying me with equity which I can't really sell to anyone else but him, I want him to buy them back, to the money I would have gotten if it were actual pay. Everything else is just a pay cut.

Good question, also it was only a remark that the phone number or email address is not owned by the IM system. They can change anyway. I got my mobile number in 1999 and already switched twice with the number. Sadly it is kinda expensive to
