I'm suggesting that companies like Google should have a plain-text option. Long term goal is be to get rid of HTML, at least in my utopian mind as in it will never happening in reality.

I wonder if the usage of plain-text mails would reduce phishing or increase it?

For the USSR the RBMK design had two advantages. 1. You could refuel it while the reactor was running. 2. It could supply needed Plutonium for nuclear weapons.

I still remember this. When it happened I was 7 years old and I was living in Germany. The town were I was living in blocked all playgrounds for weeks. And my parents warned me more about picking stuff up from the ground. I actually never k

I think I heard that the long term plan is to remove all material from the reactor. But I don't when and most importantly, I don't think anyone has a clue on how to remove the material from the reactor.

The East German nuclear plants went offline pretty quick after the unification. And yes there are a few natural gas plants, they would actually much better now than those annoying coal plants which were build recently. They are faster and w

IIRC he wasn't a big fan of the phase out. We had to force him. Also natural gas is mostly used for heating in Germany. Something the German nuclear power plants never could provide.

I think that is a fair point. But as the report mentions, trucks and busses are fine. Because with those it apparently not an issue to add Diesel exhaust fluid to the mix. But I can't imagine that the usual drivers want the hassle with

The car maker lobby VDA even says today that stricter emission standards are not needed. Btw, the chairman of the VDA is Matthias Wissmann, wo used to be the German transport minister.

"Killing Chrome Apps" is actually a good thing, at least for the an open web. It means, that apps on the web are supposed to be on the web and not packaged in the browser. Google has said that this was a temporary measure. Essenti

Replacing them with coal plants is indeed stupid and indefensible. But shutting them down was the right choice. Some of them were in a bad shape. In one plant, Krümmel I think, they even had trouble getting replacement parts. Another one, i

Possible maybe, there was a project called Desertec, but it is pointless. The advantage of renewable energy is the possibility of a decentralised energy supply.

The actual electricity is getting cheaper in Germany, what drives the prices are the grid usage costs and other elements. One thing which drives me nuts is a cost sharing scheme for renewable energy. Actually a good idea but it has a flaw.

Except it isn't really true. The share of coal in the German energy mix is decreasing too. There was a hike in 2013 and 2014. And the construction of new coal plants in the last 10 years was big mistake but nevertheless, the switch to

School choice means competition among schools. Which leads to winner and losers. So you will get bad schools. The only way to avoid this is, to have only good schools, nation wide. So that the best school is the one in your district.

I understand the procrastination argument but if it is not some (social) website it is something else. People who tend to procrastinate will do it anyway. At least this is my personal experience.
