While Twitter consistently makes product decisions these days that sum up with SMH, Ello keeps proving to me why it's the best social network around! What other social platform would be so open and detailed in communicating the results

I think the point is that users can choose to share on ad networks if the desire or not. I often share stuff to Twitter. However, at its core, Ello itself is ad-tech-free. It's an oasis where I can relax and never worry about targeted

Yes! Favorite has meaning beyond the literal for anyone who has been online for a few days. I fav to bookmark or give a simple thumbs up. Hearts break that meaning.

It does go against the design grain and established UX principles at times, but that's okay for me in the big picture. A lot of design is subjective anyways and I rather enjoy the font and layout. They're marching to a different d

No, I don't work for Ello - just a user. I've watched from the sidelines and observed how those who do work there respond. From their words and actions, it's clear to me that they are pro-privacy and anti-ad tech. I've s

F-Secure's FreedomeVPN has a great reputation and blocks tracking plus harmful websites. Works on Mac and iOS devices.

Time after time Snapchat has shown it doesn't respect user privacy or security. Now that this updated ToS is probably written to simply support their new features, their historically amateurish attitude toward privacy will come back an

No one ever took klout scores seriously. It took many for a ride and unfortunately even Hootsuite fell for the ruse. It was always gamed.

Let's see where things stand a few months down the road. For now, ad blocking is on by default, without exception.

A lot of thought about measuring an audience that for the most part lives in a bubble. In view of the fact that it's often the same audience which continuously produces bug ridden UX conundrums and ad tech supported mentalities locked

I suppose Mozilla is trying to walk a fine line, but with Tiles, it just uses a band-aid to hide a gangrenous condition. Adtech is toxic to UX and will never become less so on its own. We should have zero qualms about using ad blocking tool

F-Secure's FreedomeVPN is a great persistent VPN service that also runs anti-tracking and other security features. The iOS app runs great and always connects over VPN.

Adtech needs a major pivot. I hope that Verizon's bottom line takes some heat for this. Even though Verizon is not unique, its blatant disregard for privacy and user experience should discourage devs from supporting this. The poison ga

This. Personally, I like DB ` .md`. Edit/view from Editorial on iOS (or Byword) and BBEdit or Byword on the Mac. Or better, VIM from the CLI since that spins circles around any GUI. Markdown exports nicely to HTML 5 for web projects

The mentality of the advertising sector is just mind boggling. > Pollyanna-ish calls for better ads They don't get UX and deserve the ride over the cliff that's on its way.
