http://ow.ly/i/27W6g <--- THIS is my issue. I can't even order a replacement debit card online. I have to go into a bank because Bank Of America can't handle my name. This happened two minutes ago.

I'll bloody well decide whether I have capital letters in my name or not. That's sort of the point, here ;-)

"This isn’t just a female problem; people with apostrophes and commas in their names all have this problem." I understand that I focused on my problem. It's my blog, after all. However, I did marry a guy with a space and two capital letters

I really appreciate you doing this. The lovely gentleman at Rackspace just broke the crap out of my site when he UNPLUGGED the server my VM was living on. I'm doing a site restore right now.

How about when you end up with a truncated last name? At this point I have to maintain a list with comments on what my last name actually ended up being in the system for each website. Especially when I have to enter my name in for password

I simply think that Vinamrata is particularly courageous to put her name and voice to an experience that all too many people of any variety are unable or unwilling to disclose.

If you say that the title of this post is misleading, you are trivializing the experience of this young woman. She is finding out that all her colleagues at Stanford in computer science are telling her that she is only getting job interview

This is exactly what she was told. Read the story; the point is that women are being told that they're getting interviews because they're women. To say that the title is incorrect trivializes her experience.

I should have graded my political science classes this way; would have saved me an awful lot of red ink.

This is a great story by one of our attendees talking about how learning to code wasn't enough to help her actually get jobs. She still had to learn to speak confidently about her skills.
