Scrum includes retrospectives - they exist to change the process. If the process cannot be changed then it's not scrum. OTOH when you're starting out it takes some time to find out what works and a scrum master will probably want

We manage short standups most of the time - why didn't you tell the manager to shut down after 15 minutes? All these agile processes require the team to take some responsibility and have some courage.

So it wasn't scrum. It was just bullshitters using the word and doing what they wanted to do anyhow.

What's the difference between what you're talking about and scrum? IMO the conferences are really there because the way companies think about projects and plans is not agile and it's difficult to marry up the higher level dec

I think it might be impossible to avoid having to make moral judgements. You might wish to believe that you free society can exist without any morality but I don't think it can really. So what is "ok" and what is "not ok

Scrum got popular but it doesn't fit in with most companies imperatives so the management modify or purposely fail to understand it or don't train anyone. It's really about teams adjusting themselves to whatever behaviou

South Africa has had very serious crime problems for a long time. It's not a 3rd world thing because it's richer than its neighbors but seems to have far more violent crime. In general though, when the government is corrupt, suffe

Or it could be hype. Hype is a very very common human activity where people repeatedly try to sell you on something because they see it as the next bandwagon.

I feel very tired of the whole LLM discussion now. It's going to put everyone out of work or it's going to be a helpful tool. I find it currently lacking somehow but what's the point of saying that to one of the enthusiasts?

To make Taiwan less critical makes it less attractive as a target - China won't be able to damage the US so much by taking Taiwan. It will be harder for China to force other people to accept their action.
