I do as well. I have found I still gesture on the phone too, despite people not being able to see me. Also, I sloppily "conduct" classical music I'm listening too if I'm working in something hard alone. Having a private

I had an experience the other day where duckduckgo worked where google had failed (an obscure java default bug). It was pleasantly surprising.

I think both are needed. I think we've been getting stuff like nim, rust and others because we've had both. They certainly seem to come in waves though. It seems like the equivalent of bulking and cutting.

Cool stuff. There seems to be some cool improvement every several months. I'm excited for GATs to land so we can have true async trait methods. The async story in Rust has come a long way, but there's still a lot to be improved.

I'd like to posit that if we had something other than first past the post we wouldn't have had Trump. And Trump definitely fueled the us vs them mindset.

I think you're both right, but if I had to pick one thing to fix it would be the first past the post. Encouraging the in-group/out-group mentality is an act of self-perptuation by the two dominate parties. Without a clear "en

You can write custom pints if you're willing to build a custom toolchain (shouldn't be too terrible to rebuild it once a release) That said, GATs fix a real pain point not actually shown in the article. And that's for impl re

I would lament if everything were in the std at this point. There will be another wave of change after GATs stabilize. That said, there are some traits being standardized and moving to the std, which should be great for interop.

The reason Rust has so many features is to manage the complexity lifetimes introduce in a safe, zero-cost way. The big recent additions and outstanding work is trying to fill gaps there. * async - you can write futures without async, but as

To hop on the unhappy train, it's actually quite hard to get an internal mirror mirror working correctly because the platform for which the extra file it downloads is based on a query string, not the path. Argh.
