I shared my experience. And in my experience anyone who gets the opportunity to work there should do it. Is it fortunate? Working at a place that holds a high bar on hiring, pays extremely well, and provides extremes of learning and growth

Hi, I am a half decent engineer. I say that as objectively as one can say something like this about themselves. I worked at Amazon. Twice. In total about a decade as a Principal Engineer. I left voluntarily a few months ago. I have zero re

Checkpoints also include context. I also use jj to checkpoint. When working on a change, each time I get to a stable point I squash and start fresh with an empty change. You can absolutely continue doing that.

Author missed one of the best features: easy access to hardware breakpoints. Breaking on a memory read or write, either a raw address or via a symbol, is one of the most time saving debugging tools I know.

For anyone interested, I hacked together a little command line tool to implement this system. Find it at: https://github.com/swaits/ldr

Agree. I grew up in the era of phreaking and when I see something like this it makes me happy. We want the tinkerers, the curious, the people always pushing on the margins.

Your comment is apparently stained by your political views. It is really far from reality, lacks substance and objectivity, and comes off as unhinged.

This is unfair comparison to Proton as it is bundled with their VPN, Calendar, Drive, and Password manager. Given all it comes with, it's very competitively priced. Additionally, they've been at it a long time and built a strong b

I migrated from Fastmail to Proton last week. I found the whole process pretty painless. Proton has an IMAP migration. Took it a few days, maybe even three. But everything ended up working just fine.

You could write this whole article with `s/cloud native//` and none of its meaning would change. Cloud native is meaningless.

Thanks for pointing met to Serpent! I gave Aurora a quick spin before going back to Endeavour. Didn’t work well for me.

I understand the point of it. I’m enthusiastic about it. It was my home daily drive for more than a year. In the end, the pain didn’t outweigh the benefits for me.

I made a mess of a jj repo recently. A big mess. Ran `jj op log`, found the operation I wanted, and just `jj restore`d my way back to that exact prior state. Then started what I was planning afresh and got it right. Felt magical. And I didn

Been running Kinoite for a good bit (~1 year). I'm a bit over it. Love the idea of immutability, but rebooting every time I get a new system image via rpm-ostree, which is often, is tiresome. Of course, I could update less frequently;

Yes, indeed. There are quite a few “nature inspired metaheuristic algorithms” which do exactly this. When I say “quite a few”, I mean countless. Look up NSGA and NSGA-II for a good starting point. Then Kagi your way deeper into the rabbit h

I love the concept here and will absolutely give this a go. One bit of advice for the creators/maintainers: stop saying “cloud native”. It’s effectively meaningless, and definitely confusing. But most importantly, it’s irrelevant. Star

And what about all the switches, routers, bridges, firewalls, and whatever else in between endpoints? What a strange thing to require. It comes off a bit like X-Y. You seek high performance. But you state it as wanting zero copy networking.
