Interesting! I'll have to look more into that. Chinese internal alchemy is a bit different though; it's more like the martial art is the alchemical process itself, with the practitioners body being the reagent/substance. This

Eastern martial arts were often tied to religious/philosophical practices. For example, many Chinese martial arts are from an evolution of Taoist "physical alchemy" and massage practices. It's a lot easier to forget a ma

That sounds like basically what they did; they rewrote the ReadStates service in Rust and it sounds like that's basically a wrapper around an LRU cache. The rest of Discord is still Go/Elixer/whatever else they use.

Probably not, Kodi is designed more as a client. I think the classic setup is installing it on a HTPC or Raspberry Pi under the TV and it plays files either locally on it or from a NAS. If you want to stream stuff checkout Jellyfin or Plex.

Matrix is a protocol, so there can be multiple Matrix home server implementations. There's already three: Synapse (python, main implementation with full support), Dendrite (golang, beta level feature support), and Construct (C++, alpha

I think Discord has always used it's own thing (or at least I've never heard of this). Twitch, on the other hand, did used to use a very heavily customized version of IRC for it's chat. Not sure if it still does.

Besides what others said, I believe you can now shard Synapse and scale horizontally (part of why matrix.org has gotten faster recently).

During the illegal content days, Crunchyroll wasn't subbing the videos. Those were uploaded by dedicated fansub teams who did the actual work and CR was just another anime tube site.

Discords voice quality is definitely better then you would expect, but going between a properly set up Mumble server and normal discord voice always shows a bit of a difference to me.

Discord has "good enough" voice audio quality and infinitely easier on-boarding and usage compared to Mumble. Most users, especially gamers who often have higher-spec machines then normal users, don't care about RAM usage. Pl
