Just curious, where did you execute ab from? I've uploaded your code and ran ab from my laptop - I've tried it under 3 different internet connections - and I only get about 100 req/s.

Cedar now allows you to scale any dyno as low or high as needed, including all the way down to 0. This means you could choose to scale your web dyno down to 0 and a worker to 1. If left this way for the entire month you would have 720 work

The Cocoa APIs basically simply ask the developer to fill out a form when they’re asked to do so. I’m not sure how much more higher level and abstracted one can get without relinquishing control of how the data is displayed. It's been suc

I agree that it makes the site more pleasant, I feel the scores were too often distracting from the actual meat of the comments. Today is a better balance between too much information and too vague: better scores still go up and negative sc

Can anyone explain the technical idea behind StackMob? Both the article and the marketing page are not exactly the informative type and the sentence "Heroku for mobile applications" doesn't make much sense.

This is incredibly refreshing and inspiring, congrats! I don't see a lot of audio-related Ruby projects around. How did you implement the audio engine? A quick look in the source files seems to show it's all pure Ruby. A nice extra feature

+1. DotCloud looks promising, I love its modular concept, but I'm avoiding giving its beta a go without having the slightest idea of its future pricing.

With Node I get the best of two worlds: high concurrency and speed With Node you still need to write in an event-based style, which is something devs often complain about working with Node.js. "With goroutines and channels, you can say 'I

This is introduces an annoyingly complex pricing model, but on the plus side: - the fees are more predictable; - $9 a month for an uptime SLA of 99.95% is a pretty good deal; - apps are still free below reasonable quotas; - the fast High Re

True. I haven't tried it and it looks promising, but currently it depends on packages like Erlang, Spidermonkey, and OpenSSL, so adding Mobile CouchBase to an app means increasing its size by about 42MB.

This could be great news for iOS. AFAIK, this is the first K/V DB that could be built for iOS (c++) and has a free license that is compatible with the AppStore (Tokyo Cabinet uses LGPL and the author has shown no interest to me in adding

I really love this idea, a standard place to find the authors and the tools (!) used. But I'm not a big fan of the name. Calling it humans.txt to mirror robots.txt doesn't make much sense to me, even as a joke. I think it should be named so

No, but I'd love to hear about it. I see a lot of c++ devs complaining about how after 20 years they still haven't found a common ground on how to properly use c++ [1], its complicated memory management or its poor support for strings [2],

Yes. It's like saying humans can fly, if thrown out of an airplane. Asking developers to distribute all the object files of their proprietary software is not realistic. And even if one developer accepts that condition, most developers won't

Code under another license can be freely linked and distributed with software. This misrepresents the LGPL. LGPL doesn't allow static linking. It's not a small detail.

I either use a rich text file (that supports strikethrough) or TaskPaper - which is basically a text editor - depending on the context. The added complexity of most existing to-do list software doesn't pay off, for me.
