The only person I've ever heard use the word "niggle" to describe an african american baby was an african american adult. In fact the "n bomb" itself is now mostly used by black people, with guidos and rednecks following far behind.

Jim Clark got them the investment from Sequoia. Google would have bought them, but the reason they bought them for a billion dollars instead of a hundred million is because of the intertwined social aspect of all the people at Google and S

The class privilege in hackerland is when Youtube gets bought for a billion dollars because one of the founders is getting married to the daughter of SV royalty, not that your parents could afford a $600 computer in 1985.

I smoked 1 pack a day for about 6 years. I used the Alan Carr book and just quit one day. For me, the most important part of the book was being informed that I didn't just have a bad habit, I was a drug addict. I don't like the idea of bein

In my experience, non-white vs. non-white racism is the most popular form of racism in the world today. It's long been uncouth for whites to hate blacks, but it's ok for blacks to hate mexicans, or chinese to hate koreans, or koreans to hat

After re-reading the article I wonder if it is really coherent to have a category called "elite schools" to which one can apply these blanket observations. I think you are right, an agriculturally inclined student probably would not feel li

I'm not sure they do anymore, but elite colleges and elite prep schools used to have a hillbilly quota. In this sense they are biased against poor whites, and they know it, so they provide(d) an "affirmative action" program for some of them

"I think the OP's sister has taken a really unusual route." Maybe that's true, but for positions like the one she's in, the educational background tends towards the humanities, not towards STEM degrees. Also, I always assumed that English P

What are you going on about? If someone's choice is to sell soda to nerds on their lunch break or be unemployed, what are they gambling? Or do you mean the soda lady should have been more realistic and taken a job in the salt mines, because
