I will soon start working on a IDE / developer tool for a niche industry. I am actively looking for desktop gui frameworks to build performant desktop apps. There will be lot of trees and mind-map style diagrams with traced signals. So

Work towards making yourself into a ‘brand’. It can be giving talks, blog posts which focus on not just tech bits but a mix of tech and business. You should look credible just by looking at your LinkedIn and/or webpage. Having things l

The simplest modules I’ve seen are from Grove. The grove compatible modules don’t need you to dabble with any resistors and capacitors. Once you go beyond the pieces provided by them and you try adding your own, you’ll inevitably have to de

Sandstorm[1] has not been in news lately ever since they decided to stop their for-profit offerings. But it seems like a good base layer for people to host these apps. [1]: https://www.sandstorm.io

How aligned is it with the BigCo’s biz model? There are several examples of a product from a small startup being far more popular than BigCo’s simply because it’s too small a pie for them and therefore the execution is lacking. I used to be

Thank you all for the great replies. I was leaning towards learning Elixir/Phoenix but I also felt it's probably the 'new shiny thing' factor attracting me. This kind of validates it. So, I will probably learn rails and

For someone who hasn't learnt Rails or any other backend framwork and has only briefly dabbled with NodeJS, is it better to learn Rails first or should I learn Elixir / Phoenix directly? Thanks.

What's more annoying is I can browse all the content on iTunes on the Mac but if I click on anything it takes me to a Safari page which says '.. only available on iPhone and iPad'. Why? Some suggest that it will be back and r

I found even the lock button to be a bit unreliable. If you tap on lock and almost immediately hit any other key on the keyboard, it resumes back and you have full access!

It reminds of the time I spent with Car Mechanic Simulator. A nice 'fun' game on Steam if you like stuff like this. I have the 2015 version and there seems to be a new one out now (2018 version) but the reviews warn about the many

I have thought about this and discussed with several of my friends across different industries. MY opinion is that it will be really great if you can narrow down the definition of 'freelancers' and build a workflow / suite of
