I have a 42" plasma TV hooked up to a Windows computer and Mac Mini. I use it for playing games and watching movies. At 'couch distance' (~10 feet), normal size (10-12 pt) text is pretty much too small to read. I have 20-20 vision. 16-18 is

IMO, emacs wins just for it's sheer flexibility. Yeah, it sucks at first, but if you're a professional text wrangler, you owe it to yourself to try to master one of the big two (emacs or vim)... I kept trying out emacs, getting scared off,

I subscribe to the one text file way of thinking. Well, mostly one text file. Some giant parts (phone/address book, usernames/password hints) got sharded off into their own text file. Reasons for a simple text file: Text works well with uni

I'm less excited about this. Tipjoy only lets you gather your tips after you've gotten up past $5 in tips. Now, since bug.gd mentioned $0.10 tips in their post, only the very very prolific (and very very helpful) bug solution poster will ev

Also, if it's not "website relate" (as in, the website you're using Dreamhost to host), Dreamhost wants to charge you 20 cents/gig per month extra.

I agree that you need git or hg or svn or /something/ of the sort for large sites, like sangguine has, but for small/tiny sites, other options are available. Heck, I use sshfs to mount my blog as a directory & edit files directly. rsync

If you want a profound analysis, he wrote a (fiction) book recently on this subject, and put it out on the internet under a CC license. It's an enjoyable read; he pretty much distilled a few bits from the book to make that article. Here tis

I'm all for flagging the content. It'd be especially nice if it'd throw up a warning in front of the summary if enough people flag it. Digg does pretty well in this regard. If enough people bury the story as inaccurate, you see a big "Warni

If only they had a bigger selection of downloadable content, I could ditch my cable... Also, I'd rather not stream in (potentially HD) video. My internet connection is flaky enough as is. It /will/ die during the movie.

Agreed. Personally, my most awake portion of the day starts around 3-5 pm and ends around 11-1 pm, depending on how I feel, what I'm doing, etc. I can't even take naps during that time...

So the article says, in order to get over sleep deprivation, you have to go to bed when you're tired and wake up without an alarm clock. That would probably get me fired... I do that on weekends. Go to bed at 2-4am, and wake up at 11am-2pm.

My friend Chris started a company that does business cards: http://trifectaagencies.com/ He doesn't like to put prices on his site, but if you email him, you should find he's got good prices for whatever amount of design you need.

That's what rsync is for. ;) A month or so of uploading all day while I'm at work, and then a few mins a day from then on to upload the deltas. I guess this brings up a good point. Does tarsnap do incremental backups?

I am /very/ interested, as I just searched for a good online backup system that worked with linux and came up empty handed. Sadly, 30 cents/gig every month quits being an awesome deal when you got 200ish gigs of stuff you want backed up.
