The ability to be an effective leader is not a court of law. I'm totally ok calling for someone to step down after they defend statutory rape, in theory and practice (which RMS did both).

It may be acceptable to you but for me and a lot of people, it is not. The solution for me is to never associate or work with the FSF and advocate against this type of behavior from "leaders" in our industry and field.

Yes it does. It claims the allegations against Minsky are false. That has not been proven and the allegations are highly credible. It's an offensive and stupid thing to say, especially publicly, especially when you're "apol

Are you comparing the rape of a minor to homosexuality? I would not work with someone who conversed like this in a professional setting. I'm not alone. It's wildly inappropriate at the very least. It's not his field and he&

RMS made these comments on work communication channels. You don't need to separate his ideas from his work because he himself put his ideas into his work environment and is now, correctly, paying the price for that.

He even continues to defend Minsky in this letter. It's not even an apology, it's just more of the same.

How is it the "right thing" if it helps Google but hurts developers and consumers? It seems quite the opposite.

As a consumer or developer, your interests are aligned with the author's. Unless you work for Google, you'd be better off fighting policies like this.

I choose: - Advocate for developer friendly policies and work with the dev community to weaken Google and Apple's stronghold over distribution. It's funny to see people defending Google here, unless you work for Google it's n

Are you suggesting that the rich would break the law and engage in tax evasion (not legal loopholes)? A great portion of my taxes goes to military and police. Wouldn’t they just collect the money push come to shove? They certainly have the

There's a huge difference between $100->$200 and $500->$1,000. People's earnings make it that there's a threshold that gets crossed where insurance becomes unaffordable. It's debatable if that happened before or af

My point is the government isn't "protecting" anyone with these regulations. They will happily watch you spend your life savings buying lotto tickets (not an investment) but if you actually want to put that money into a compa

Regulation leads to regulatory capture which leads to power and information imbalances that are great substrate for fraud. The stock market (not just penny stocks) is highly regulated but I think we could all agree there's fraud happen

I'm not seeing the problem. What you're saying is that you want to dictate how people spend their money. Why is buying penny stocks a concern to you but spending that same amount of money on travel, cars, beanie babies... is not?
