This is the whole point of beta programs. They talk about you once when you release and again when you're out of beta: free PR.

I saw the those Microsoft/Google exchange as two people talking past each other. I find it hard to believe Google doesn't have different KPI for Google Maps vs. say, Google Books. I mean one involves scanning books, the other involves mappi

Eberhard nearly destroyed Tesla. Musk did what anyone who invested 70 million dollars would have done. A perfect example of Eberhard's arrogance is the whole 2 speed transmission debacle. Eberhard absolutely insisted on having a 2 speed tra

About the actual technical root of the issue - does anyone else find it surprising that twitter is actually using integers for each status update added to it's database and incrementing as it goes? It seems to be this is particularly bad fo

Xbox had a couple of difficult gems. Try Gunvalkerie or Panzer Dragoon Orta on the hardest difficulty. I remember everyone saying Ninja Gaiden for Xbox was this massively hard game, but I remember beating it without too many problems. It wa

Not sure why your comment got voted down, while the digg/reddit style supermodel comment got voted up. I think a better target for them might be a company like loopt or whrrl. More users and a stronger growth curve.

That's not a rule, in fact the Pepsi Challenge is one of the most successful marketing campaigns ever and it mentions Coca-Cola by name. In general, market leaders will not reference competition to not give them credibility/free advertising

First rule of PR: Know your audience. IMO you are marketing your site all wrong if you go after the HN/Digg/Reddit crowds, which generally tend to be more techy. You should be hitting the websites which would want to use this service, deal

Wow, this is really great news. I use Amazon EC2 for all my web hosting and absolutely love it. Total control of a not-too-shabby box for 70$ a month was a great deal. For 40$ a month it's a downright steal. Thanks for sharing.
