It's so stupid everyone's concentrating on race... seriously. You're just making the situation worse rather then better. Racism will only be gone once a minority is elected president and no one cares to mention the fact they are a minority.

That's a pretty knee-jerk reaction. From what I hear Telsa under the old CEO really did have a bunch of under-performers who made a bunch of bad decisions - which directly caused the delays and transmission problems causing the first model

Just curious, can you think of another company besides Amazon where 'get big fast' actually worked? "Get big fast" was actually a rather symbolic phrase for the excesses of bubble spending. It worked for amazon and few others.

I agree, it's a great time to invest, but remember - the market can stay irrational longer then you can stay solvent. It may take 15-30 years for the market to "recover", can you wait it out long enough without being forced to withdraw mone

It makes sense. The credit markets are imploding so it's going to be harder to borrow. Basically you need to survive by not borrowing, so get cash flow positive. I think this crash is analogous to the long depression: http://en.wikipedia.o

wamu smartly raised private capital to the tune of 7$ billion to ride this wave out (before all the other guys failed). Wamu might fail, but I'd bet AIG fails first.

The magic of chrome is basically it's javascript engine, which is the first major implementation (from scratch) of a js engine since the advent of ajex/client side heavy web applications. Your analogy with Apple is fitting I think, Apple's

Sounds similar to the gmail TOS - whereby they generate ads based on the contents of your email. Seems like they will add adwords content to the browser shell at some point, if they are so inclined.

I also don't see what the big deal is. Having a Wikipedia article does not all of a sudden validate the Y Combinator idea, and having it deleted certainly does not invalidate the work they've done. To put it in perspective, ignition partner

I'm a 10PM sleeper - the morning is a really under-appreciated hacking time. I've found, generally, that 12AM and later hacking sessions both aren't sustainable and aren't as productive as they seem at first glance. Plus, I'm usually so exc

I think all the people saying it's hard to take on craigslist are right. My own spin on it is simply that craigslist has been around since the dawn of the popular web, it was founded in 1995, and started growing rapidly in 1999. The fact is

You know what takes longer then 70 ms? All the js/css/other stuff facebook includes on their homepage (one server round trip each). Before they spent the millions it takes to bring up another data center they should have read this: http://

Just seems hacky to me. Opening a whole data center to shave off 70ms? Now I see why they need 500+ million.

Reminds me of a discussion I read a while back about a power struggle in Microsoft between the 'backwards compatible' group mentality and the 'reinvent the wheel to be better at whatever cost' group mentality. It seems to me the 'reinvent t

I gave it a point, but I disagree. I don't see google as a 800lb gorilla, I see google as the new yahoo - desperately trying to diversify their technology and revenue before the inevitable hits. True, with the amount of cash they have they
