How about maybe we've reached a point where there are very few things you can't already do/achieve quite well in C#/.Net without having to dip into OSS land? I'm a C# dev and I keep close tabs on the plethora of too

"dried up budgets" is a phrase I never would have thought would be applicable to anything Apple Corp related.

Must be nice to live in the first world. I've always wondered if the realization of this electric car utopia in the first world will eventually lead to Lamborghinis and Porches being dumped on us poor people in the third world like han

You really have to wonder why any one would even want to consider getting into this business at this point. It's a blood bath and there is only one winner it seems.

I think it's being downvoted because a lot of geeks hate that they love Apple products. It's a bizarre situation that results in some odd things, such as Macs and iPads being prevalent at OSS user group meetings.

You don't have to use iOS. So such petitions are pretty pointless.

The "Apple is not dominant" retort is very correct but also very frustrating. Apple is dominant in the sense that they command an outsize portion of developer/consumer mindshare. So issues like this just get drowned out in

Heh,when I was a junior dev we had a senior guy on our team who would stay after hours and refactor literally every line of code our team of four devs had written that day. What was even more infuriating than his condescending smugness abou

I've always sort of hoped that Jazz was a genre of music that programmers would most easily relate to. Jazz artists are a bit like the hackers of musical theory. I mean, they are able to disassemble a tune and effectively piece it back

The guy that runs asymco said something that got me thinking about this. He said, the Apple Watch is as much a "watch" as the iPhone is a "phone". I think the idea is that we are thinking about it all wrong. The "ph

I'm surprised (or perhaps I shouldn't be) that the one review to make it to HN so far is the one that is gushing the most about this watch. Yes it's the NY Times, but this is a tech gadget. I would have expected a NY Times re

I wonder, how far are we from completely pilotless flights? Perhaps the numbers don't yet justify proper investment in this area, but we have to be getting pretty close to at least thinking about it seriously now.
