Really? Seems like a terrible name to me. Where I'm from, if you "post hog", you're getting blocked.

QuakeWorld had perfect TCP/IP, actually still one of the best netcodes in a game IMO. Reminds me of trying to get coax LANs set up correctly though, and how everyone's ping would spike when someone was leeching files during games.

Teachers do more work outside of their standard hours than most other professions. I dated a teacher for a long time and she worked much harder for her public school salary (waking up at 6am, prepping, lesson planning, grading, chasing up k

It's such a great font. I've been through them all, and even hacked together my own custom version of Office Code Pro, and while I switch every now and then, the iA Writer fonts are my favourites. I pair them with the Quatro versi

I really dislike this quote. It always comes across like it's designed to ease greedy people of their guilt for moving to the right as they earn more money. To me, being sound of mind is wanting everyone to have what you have, or at le

Yeah it really feels like the NYPD has a lot of contempt for the city they operate in, politically, socially, culturally. I saw the same thing at every protest I attended — when there were no cops around, it was extremely peaceful. I only e

I don't think anyone is arguing that WFH is "_obviously_ superior" for everyone, but there are clearly companies who are angling to push all of their employees back into the office (and back to the Bay Area specifically), and

I love this advice. I started working remotely in my 20s and negotiated to work 4 days a week, while traveling the world and deciding where I wanted to call home. I'd never trade that time spent growing up and finding myself, learning

Yeah, not strictly zero intervention of course (a socialist won a democratic election and the US wasn't going to have it), but compared to other countries it was shorter-lived and longer ago.

Love this. There are high-res textures for Quake which would have made this look even better. The Quake Revitalization Project[0] has created new textures "without changing the mood, theme, or atmosphere", and I believe they'

I don't use it professionally, but I built a side-project in Elixir a few years ago and was amazed at how much I was able to get done with such a little amount of code. The service is still running today with basically no maintenance.
