Worked at a place that shall not be named, back before startups were hip and trendy. They had received capital funding from a local collective of business folks. Lots of bad use of the money and telling investors versions of the truth. I re

Some excellent points even for a non-maths guy like me. And I learned a new word: incunabulum.

A great book and one that I am reading diligently as I work up to re-entering the world of blogging. I stopped blogging half a dozen years ago as I was making no money and using plenty of time. This time I intend to manage the time aspect m

I agree. I just wanted to question your use of the term over-nourished. My understanding is that we are generally over-fed (myself included ... but now actively working on it) but woefully under-nourished. Jon Gabriel (sp?) teaches that mos

I grew up in a Navy town, so I had an extensive education in all manner of swear words. I doubt there are many that I have not heard. You young edgy guys have nothing on the British Royal Navy ... not even close. I've heard people swear up

I'd start with just leaving the word out. "This piece of software is useless." will most likely convey your point. Perhaps, if you wished to ramp up the emphasis, you could say that "this piece of software is totally useless." I also like t

Yup. It's only too late if you don't want to do it in the first place. While I started programming at 13, I didn't become a pastor until age 40. I suppose I could have said that I was too old to add such a different activity to my life, but

DMR was one of my heroes. Rest In Peace Sir. I learned C from the first edition of K&R back in 1989 (iirc) on an Atari ST using the Sozobon C compiler. Happy memories (except for learning to combine pointers and loops and null terminate

Excellent advice from edw519. I only want to add that you are welcome to contact me (I'm a pastor and a programmer :-) if you need more help with the depression and suicidal thoughts. My contact information is in my profile. My startup is a

Another data point. I have had no problem with my existing links (1697 of them that all seem to be present), exporting said links and have had no problems logging in or using my existing id and password.

Thanks. I'll go back an re-read it carefully then. I admit that I stopped once I realised how old the article was.

This is a great book. All of the advice in t is either excellent or at least thought-provoking. Highly recommended. Now, that being said, I did order a dead tree version through the Lulu.com store (very nice store, by the way) and while I l

As a former employee of Lands' End, I can attest to the quality of their customer service. (The quality of the internal employee care is less good than it used to be, since back when I started there in 1998, but I could just be bitter after
