Agreed. (and of course you were downvoted here). People love to hold Scandanavia up as an example as how the rest of the world "could be." However, I think that is such a naive point of view, and one that needs changing. Their populations a

Nice hack -- I've been going this as inside of backbone.js app. I have a asset management app that uses keyboard shortcuts to quickly tag, choose, and manage photos. Had I know about this I might have used it rather than bundling it into my

You need to check with the local authorities for permitting. I have some friends who have used remote controlled helicopters in urban places for video production, and the liability is a real hassle. * If you fly too low this is a hazard to

I don't believe the author understands innovation, craigslist, or online marketplaces. 1. Innovation is not features. It is utility. The real innovation of craigslist has been to resist so much call for change, especially in tech. 2. Craigs

Eduardo Saverin (of Facebook fame) is also on that list. Also in Singapore, I think. I wonder -- what their reasons are other than the US tax burden?

Postgresql has both Levenshtein and metaphone functions as part of the fuzzymatch extension. It's nice to have this when trying to match addresses.

The problem with that famous line is that it is absolutely devoid of any meaning. The actual line is "The Medium is the Massage" -- NOTE: MASSAGE -- and it was largely criticized as being incoherent [1]. A lot of post-modern non-sense that

I posted here because I find the HN crowd to be ahead of the curve on news like this (security, tech, etc). For example, previous posts have called this out as a non-event, which I found informative. I learned that exchanges are not as faul

You need to head over to webhostingtalk.com. That is where the cool hosting kids hang out. :-) I'm a member there and always take my hosting and infrastructure questions there.

Oh come on. It is arrogant, unhelpful comments like this that make the tech community look like a bunch of pricks. Criticism is supposed to be helpful and offer direction.
